I am a receptionist in a small hotel in Sofia. Yes, at first glance it is not a dream job, and as it usually happens in Bulgaria, I studied for one thing or another, but over time I saw a lot of positive sides. In the first place, working with people. Yes, it is stressful to smile all the time, but on the other hand 99% of the customers are quite kind and positive and from some of them you can even learn new and interesting things. For example, a few years ago we had a couple of retired Canadians. They had traveled halfway around the world, and because they stayed with us for a long time, they liked to stay with me and talk. Well, believe me, I learned a lot of interesting things about their travels in Africa and life in Canada. So my job is generally cool except for one thing. The salary! As we all know, on the one hand we are supposedly developing tourism, but on the other hand the salaries of those working in tourism are among the lowest. So if one day I am forced to change jobs, it will be only because of that. However, I will miss contact with people.
