Aspiring actor, stunt performer and stunt coordinator Iko Yuwais is already called "the next Jackie Chan." Such a vain comparison is easy to explain.

Like the famous actor from China, Iko showed the whole world a little-known martial art that has already won the love of many people on the planet. Despite the emerging popularity, Yuweis does not feel like a star. On Instagram, the actor signed one of the photos that the most important thing for him is his family.

Yuvays Korni (the real name of the actor) was born in the Indonesian city of Jakarta on February 12, 1983. From a young age, the child was attached to the family. At the age of 10, Iko went to a martial arts school, the main focus of which is the pencak-silat style. The educational institution was founded by the boy's grandfather, and his uncle became the first teacher of Juvais.

Later, European football entered the biography of the teenager. Iko became interested in a new sport for himself and was even accepted into a professional team of category "B" as a midfielder. But the football club went bankrupt, so Yuvays again focused his efforts on martial arts.

Full dedication and constant control of relatives over Iko's work brought results. In 2003, the young man entered the top three at the Penchak Silat competition in Jakarta, and after 2 years he received the title of Indonesian champion. Along with studying the techniques of Indonesian martial arts, Yuweis worked as a courier for a well-known telephone company.

Iko's acting career began in 2007. A short Indonesian (Iko's height is 1.65 m) was invited to a small role in a documentary directed by Gareth Evans. The men quickly found a common language, and while the filming process lasted, an idea for a full-fledged film was ripe in the director's head, in which the main role would be assigned to a talented athlete.

After 2 years, Evans returned to Indonesia and brought the finished script. Until the last moment Iko Juvais did not believe that he would act in films. In an interview, the actor said that he realized what was happening only on the first day of shooting. As a result, the action movie "Merantau" was released.

The collaboration inspired the director so much that in 2011 Evans released a new action movie starring Iko Juvais. The actors staged the battle scenes in The Raid on their own. The first experience of a fight director had consequences - Iko suffered a knee injury and even felt the blow of a machete. Fortunately, edged weapons were not sharpened. The film won the Audience Award at the Toronto Film Festival.

Raid 2 earned no less success, which was filmed by the friendly Evans-Yuvays tandem in 2014. Despite the positive reviews, the motion picture failed at the box office. At the same time, the audience noted the scale of the work done. Iko himself argued that the most difficult moment in the work on the action movie was the doubles, where the main character jumps from one car to another. The shooting of the film took place without understudies, and the athlete performed all the tricks himself.

In 2015, the actor moved away from his usual image and agreed to a small role in the legendary Star Wars saga. In Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the young man reincarnated as Lieutenant Raza Qin-Fi, a member of a gang of smugglers with whom Han Solo had a strained relationship.

In 2016, despite the failure at the box office of Raid 2, filming of Raid: Bullet in the Head began. The film is connected with the previous parts of the action movie only by the name. The film was directed by Kimo Stambol and Timo Tiagianto. Iko Yuvaisu again got the main role in the action. This time, the actor played a cold-blooded killer intending to take revenge on his offenders, whom he considered his family.

2017 brought Iko the first advertising contract - Yuvays became the face of Head & Shoulders shampoo. Shampoo sales in Indonesia skyrocketed after the premiere of a video featuring an actor demonstrating hair products.

On June 25, 2012, the wedding of Iko and singer Paula Allodia Item, better known under the pseudonym Audi, took place. The girl, like the actor himself, is an Indonesian by nationality who professes Islam. Before marriage, young people were in a relationship for only 3 months.

Such a hasty marriage became a reason for gossip. The journalists were sure that the actor's young wife was pregnant. But the rumors were not confirmed. Another premiere of 2018 will be Triple Threat. Yuvays will be reincarnated as a street fighter who will be entrusted with protecting the daughter of a billionaire. The killers are chasing the girl, not used to retreating. Together with Iko, actor Tony Jha will fight criminals in the film.

2019 will also be fruitful for Uvais. At the stage of post-production there are two films at once, in the creation of which Iko was directly involved: "The night is behind us" and "Stuber". Details about the upcoming premiere films have not yet been disclosed.

In the second half of 2018, the actor will begin work on the Wu Killers series. Iko will be reincarnated as the last representative of the criminal clan, who must stop the war between the killers. In addition to the main role in the series, Yuvays will act as a stage director and producer of a multi-part film.
