Biography
Prominent military historian, professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which nurtured Nobel laureates, writer and medievalist who studies the events of the Middle Ages. The fame of Yuval Noah Harari has long gone beyond the borders of Israel. The author's bestsellers adorn the libraries of Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates, books have been translated into dozens of languages and awarded prizes for creativity and originality.
fact
Childhood and youth
The future scientist was born in the winter of 1976 in the town of Kiryat Ata in the north of Israel. Israel's largest port, Haifa, is noisy 12 km from where the first pages of the bestselling author's biography were written. By nationality, Yuval is Jewish, but thanks to his parents, Lebanese blood also flows in his veins.
Since childhood, Yuval Noah Harari differed from his peers in thoughtfulness and erudition. The boy absorbed books in huge quantities, but his greatest interest was aroused by historical works. After leaving school, the young man entered the most prestigious educational institution in the country - the Hebrew University.

The university, founded in 1925 and included in the top 100 world universities, is located in Jerusalem. He became famous for his professors, whose names are known in America and Europe, as well as several Nobel laureates. For five years, starting in 1993, Harari studied the Middle Ages and studied military history. Teaching at the university was conducted in Hebrew.
After graduation, the Israeli continued his education in Britain, choosing a college at Oxford University. Here, at the College of Jesus, founded by Queen Elizabeth I in the middle of the 16th century, Yuval Noah Harari defended his doctoral dissertation and returned to his homeland in 2003. For two years, the young scientist was engaged in scientific research (postdoctoral studies) and improved his qualifications at the Yad Hanadiv branch, funded by Rothschild.

Books
Harari's first work was published in 2004 and was dedicated to the wars of the Renaissance. In 2007 and 2008, the writer presented two more books. The first covered military special operations of the era of knighthood, the second analyzed the ultimatum experience on the battlefields during the Middle Ages and its impact on modern military culture.
The first three books, even together, did not have the same success as the fourth, which became a bestseller immediately after publication. In 2011, Harari presented the work “Sapiens. A Brief History of Humanity ". Both the scientific community and the common reader showed interest in him. The resonance that followed the publication was such that the book was translated into 30 languages. Zuckerberg added the bestseller to Facebook's online book club as a standout piece.
However, there were also critics who considered Harari's unconventional approach to the analysis of history provocative. Among them is Bill Gates. But he also admitted that after reading for two weeks he discussed the fascinating book with his wife.

In 2015, the Israeli author's bibliography was replenished with a new work entitled "Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow." Thanks to the previous book, close attention was riveted to the newly published one. And the writer did not disappoint expectations, having presented the world with a new bestseller, albeit less loud than "A Brief History".
The works of the Israeli are so informative that there are voices for including Harari's works in school curricula. The author's books are read in one breath, both by academic scientists and by people far from scientific research. The works did not pass the attention of the "New York Times" and "Financial Times". In the first edition they were called "the creation of a gifted thinker", in the second they were praised for "a fresh look at what we thought we already knew."
fact
Personal life
A world-renowned writer and scientist does not advertise his personal life, but he also does not hide his unconventional orientation: Harari is gay. His husband's name is Itzik. The couple was officially married in 2002. The couple live near Jerusalem, in a cozy rural moshav, Mesilat Zion.
The author of bestselling books and popular science articles is a dedicated evolutionist and animal advocate. The latter pushed Yuval towards vegetarianism, which he adheres to since his youth.
Harari resorts to meditation and other Buddhist practices to understand the world and peace of mind.
fact
Yuval Noah Harari now
In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, the scientist complained that the popularity that has fallen on him has a downside - the lack of free time. Harari is constantly on the road: he travels with lectures and speeches all over the world, gives interviews and visits conferences. Yuval claims that he has to repeat what he said dozens of times, while there is no time for new research.

In 2018, the medievalist delighted readers with a new work: "21 lessons for the XXI century." If in the two previous bestsellers the scientist investigated the events of the ancient and middle ages, then in the new book he discusses the difficulties that mankind is facing now.
The Israeli scientist is registered on social networks. His pages on Instagram and Facebook are followed by millions of subscribers in America, Europe and Russia. Here Harari shares news and plans, posts photos and videos from lectures, announces trips and meetings scheduled for 2019.
