Yuriy Bogatikov

Yuri Bogatikov was born on February 29, 1932 in the city of Rykovo, Donetsk region of Ukraine. Currently, this city is called Yenakiyevo. The future famous singer spent his childhood in his native Donetsk region, in the city of Slavyansk, and during the Second World War, Yuri, along with his mother, brothers and sisters, was evacuated to the Uzbek city of Bukhara. His father, Iosif Bogatikov, went to the front, from which he never returned.

From an early age, Yura loved to sing: his father instilled this habit in him. He often performed something at home, and the children were accepted to sing along with him with pleasure. However, the hungry post-war years did not leave young Bogatikov any hope of building a successful musical career. It was necessary to help the mother, who was left without a husband, to raise the children to their feet.

At the end of the war, the family moved to Kharkov. In order to at least slightly improve the financial situation of his relatives, Yura got a job at the Kharkov Bicycle Plant. In addition, he entered the Kharkov vocational school of communications. Upon completion of his studies, the young man got a job as a mechanic repairing equipment at the local telegraph office, and he devoted almost all his free time to singing in various amateur circles.

The director of the Kharkov Telegraph noticed the young talent and sent Yuri Bogatikov to the Kharkov Music School. The singer successfully graduated from this educational institution in 1959, interrupting his studies from 1951 to 1955 to serve in the Pacific Fleet. During his service, Yura performed in the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Pacific Fleet.

Finally, having received his legitimate musical education, Bogatikov began working at the Kharkov Musical Comedy Theater. Experts appreciated the singer's velvet baritone, and later he also performed in the State Song and Dance Ensemble "Donbass", in the Kharkov, Lugansk, Crimean Philharmonic societies, worked as artistic director of the Krym ensemble and artistic director for organizing special events and festivals in his native Philharmonic.

The singer gradually occupied his niche on the stage. His first pop songs - "Where does the Motherland begin", "Dark mounds are sleeping ...", "Don't cry, little girl", "At a nameless height", "I haven't been to Donbass for a long time" - were to the taste of the Soviet people. In 1967, Yuri Bogatikov became the winner of the Competition for Young Performers of Ukraine, then he received the Grand Prix of the Berlin Festival, and soon after that the Golden Orpheus award. The singer was one of the first to receive the title of People's Artist of the USSR.

Yuri Bogatikov never allowed himself to perform with a phonogram, and in the intervals between songs at concerts he inspiredly read poetry to the audience. In the 1980s, the musician also played the role of the guitarist of the Russian rock group Urfin Jus.

The collapse of the Soviet Union painfully hit the artist's successful creative career: he lost his job, money, began to drink. Then his friend Leonid Grach took Yuri Iosifovich to the grave of the talented poet Julia Drunina, who committed suicide due to the collapse of the USSR. Gradually, the artist got rid of his addiction and began performing again, practically until his death, tirelessly performing all the songs of the repertoire at numerous concerts.

Yuri Bogatikov was a charismatic and charming man, as can be seen in the numerous photos of the actor. His height and weight, courageous posture and open face have always attracted the attention of the opposite sex.
