Then there were attempts to enter the Shchukin School and other theatrical institutes, but to no avail. The frustrated guy after a while moved from Moscow to Yaroslavl, where he managed to enter the school.

In 1973, after graduating from high school, Yuri was assigned to the provincial drama theater in Novgorod. Despite the fact that the artist successfully and fruitfully played on his stage for a long time, he considers the time spent there a mistake: even playing the main roles, he did not receive the experience and practice that the capital's theaters provide.

Later, Tsurilo appeared on the stages of the drama theaters of Norilsk, Novosibirsk, Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod), but ultimately settled in St. Petersburg, where he became an actor in the troupe of the Alexandrinsky Theater.
