Yoo Yeon became the youngest champion of South Korea: the athlete took the gold medal at the age of 11. The previous record was held by Kim Young Ah, who climbed to the top of the podium in 2003 at the age of 12.

The next season turned out to be less successful for Yoo Yeon. She won silver at the Tallinn Trophy in November 2016, losing 1st place to Russian Alena Kanysheva. And in January 2017, she entered only the top 5 of the South Korean championship. The reason for such a low result is the fall in the short program.

Yoo Young started 2018 with a landslide victory in the national championship. Then the world championship among juniors took place, in the standings of which the figure skater reached only the 9th line.

The performances of the Korean woman were filled with triple jumps - axels and lutz. Each of them was performed cleanly, without blots, and the jury unanimously awarded Yoo Yeon gold.

In February 2020, the championship of the four continents took place. Traditionally, skaters from America, Asia, Africa and Oceania fought for victory on the ice. Since 2009, South Korea has not taken away the awards from this tournament, but Yoo Young was able, even if it was silver.
