Acquaintance with music happened when Yana was 7 or 8 years old. Diaghileva attended a music school, learned to play the piano. However, she did not achieve success - it was difficult for the girl to combine her studies at school and classes in musical notation. After some time, music teachers suggested that parents not torment the child with activities that are not useful. But the talent took its toll, and Yana, learning music on her own and without the supervision of teachers, mastered the instrument and often played when guests came to her parents.

A little later, the girl became interested in the guitar, and her parents sent Diaghilev to the guitar circle. From this, perhaps, Yankee's development as a professional musician and performer began. The girl also had another passion besides music - to write poetry. Friends say that Yanka often showed them new poems and songs. Some of Diaghileva's songs of that time have survived, but in those naive children's creations it is difficult to see what is in common with later works.

In 1983, Yanka graduated from high school. Diaghileva planned to enter the Institute of Culture in Kemerovo, however, due to her mother's serious illness, her plans had to be changed, and the girl entered the Engineering Institute of Water Transport in her native Novosibirsk. Yana had no interest in her studies, but began performing in the student ensemble "Amigo". This collective was popular in the city, and for the first time Yanka felt like a singer. After studying until the second year, Diaghileva quits her studies at the institute and devotes herself to her favorite work.

Participation in the student ensemble gave Yana not only love for performances, but also talented friends. It was they who, in 1985, introduced Diaghileva to Irina Letyaeva, whom creative youth knew as a "rock mom". Letyaeva helped young bands develop, supported aspiring musicians and helped organize concerts and festivals in Novosibirsk.

Irina's apartment has always been open to musicians: young talents lived here for months, Kinchev, Grebenshchikov, Bashlachev and many others stayed for the duration of the tour. It was in this apartment that Yanka met Alexander Bashlachev, also known as SashBash. The friendship of young people developed immediately, and Bashlachev later had a serious impact on all the work of Yanka Diaghileva.

From this acquaintance, by and large, the creative path of the Yankee, known to fans of rock music, began. In January 1988, Yanka recorded the first album, "Not allowed", and in June the singer was invited to perform at a rock festival in Tyumen.

In the life of Diaghileva, a period of constant touring begins. In 1988 - 1990 Yanka drives through the cities of the country with the Civil Defense group, acquiring new acquaintances and writing new songs and poems. In St. Petersburg (then Leningrad), the musicians met Sergei Firsov, who became their director and producer. Sergey organizes constant concerts, filming, apartment rentals and performances at festivals, and also helps in recording new Yankee albums.

The songs of those years earned immense popularity and love of Yankee fans, and "For a rainy day", "From a big mind" and "On tram rails" became hits, having not lost their relevance to this day. Diaghileva's last concerts, about which journalists and fans managed to find information, were held in Irkutsk and Angarsk, as well as in Leningrad. Then, in 1991, Yanka released the last songs that later became cult: "Above your feet from the ground", "Water will come", "About devils", "Nyurkina song".

The personal life of Yanka Diaghileva is inextricably linked with creativity. The first choice of Diaghileva (in 1986) was the musician Dmitry Mitrokhin, also known as Dimentius. The lovers applied to the registry office, and everything seemed to go to a happy wedding. However, Yanka, having once looked at the family album of Dmitry's parents, said that such an everyday routine for her was like a way to the scaffold. Yana was vacationing at the dacha with her family. The girl went out for a walk and never came back. The doctors will call the cause of Yanka Diaghileva's death drowning, but to this day the question remains unclear whether it was murder or suicide. On May 17, the girl's body will be found in the Inya River.
