Yanina Farkhadovna Batyrshina was born - this is how her real name sounds - in the city of Tashkent, which is the capital of Uzbekistan (then the Uzbek SSR). It happened on October 7, 1979. The girl owes her good looks to the different nationalities of her parents - Yana's mother was Jewish, and her father was Tatar.

Already at the age of five, Batyrshina began to engage in gymnastics. Chernova Valentina Andreevna became Yana's first mentor in this matter. Under Chernov's leadership in 1988, Yana got into the national team of the Uzbek SSR, and a year later - into the youth team of the Soviet Union.

In the early nineties, after the collapse of the USSR, the girl and her parents moved to Veliky Novgorod.

After the move, Yana continued to play sports, but already at the Novgorod Gymnastics Center, which at that time was headed by Irina Aleksandrovna Viner-Usmanova, who later became the president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Honored coach of Russia Natalya Valentinovna Kukushkina took up Batyrshina. Thanks to her efforts, the girl made her way to the Russian national team, in which she played until 1998. Yana performed mainly in individual all-around.

In 1991, the athlete took 3rd place at the USSR Championship. In 1992 - 9th place in the CIS Cup. A year later, Yana managed to take 1st place in the Russian Championship among juniors, but already in 1994 during the European Championship in rhythmic gymnastics she took only 15th place. In 1995, at the World Championships and in the Grand Prix finals, she took third place. During the 1996 Olympic Games, she managed to win silver.

1997 and 1998 were promising in the girl's sports career, as Yana won first places in the World Club Championship and the International Tournament. This is partly what happened - already in 1999, Batyrshina became the head coach of the Brazilian rhythmic gymnastics team. The girl had to leave the Russian national team due to a conflict with Irina Viner-Usmanova.

In total, for her sports career, the girl won over 180 medals, and also received the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia and was awarded a medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland in 1997.

In the early 2000s, Batyrshina came to TV. The first project, in which Yana acted as the host, was the popular youth TV show "Up to 16 and Older", broadcast by the ORT TV channel (now Channel One).

In 2001, the girl moved to the Stolitsa channel to broadcast sports news for the next two years. There she was noticed by the employees of the TV channel "Sport" and lured to her - to conduct "Vesti-Sport" (which Batyrshina did until 2012).
