Why The Hell Are These People Happy

The Story

I've been watching a YouTuber for a while, on the other hand it's around the world. He spends the night and lives with different people from all over the world for several days. But all kinds of people - rich, poor, tribes in the jungle and desert. It made the strongest impression on me that the most real and happy are the tribes that live in the most difficult conditions outside of civilization in jungles and deserts, especially the Indians.

When asked "why are you so happy", they look dumb, some ask them "why does the bird have wings". Well they are just happy, no reason. They have not read candied books on the secret of happiness, they do not meditate, they do not do yogis and such nonsense. For example, he hung out all day fishing, and in the evening he finally managed to catch something, took it in his hands and it slipped away and entered the river, and instead of swearing, he started laughing sincerely. Absolutely never quarrel, crime is 0.

They live in wooden huts with thatched roofs and no floor, they walk barefoot directly on the ground, there is no electricity, no internet. They sleep in hammocks or directly on the ground. They have only a few pigs, chickens, ducks and 1 horse and a small stream in which they bathe, wash, drink and water their animals. I have no idea how they don't get sick, but they often live to be 100-105 and never even at that age wear glasses and read, and to the surprise of YouTuber it was normal for them for a woman to give birth until 50-55. They do not live in villages, but in large families. Each family has 2-3 houses and in a radius of several kilometers there are no other people. Terribly cohesive and hardworking. The 4-year-olds send them to the stream to fill with water and bathe themselves there, and the older ones help their fathers to hunt, pick fruits that are in abundance around them and cut wood. Otherwise, they have a makeshift school where they teach children to read and write.

They are radiated by many sincere, true, peaceful, calm and easy-going people, but at the same time wise and healthy people on the ground.

So my question is why, since their lives are so difficult, they are so happy, and we, who are supposedly ahead technologically, have a shower at home, running clean water, lighting, internet heating, beds, there are so many unhappy people among us.

I have several theories. One is that they are very strongly associated with nature. Even if one walks in the park and feels the pleasant spring sun, one experiences instant happiness, and imagine being in nature 24/7 and one with it.

The second is that there is nothing to stumble on. Things like cars, apartments, discos, silicones, vanities lose all meaning there. There is no one in front of you to pretend to be a pseudo-rich, pseudo-big job or to inflate yourself with jeeps and branded clothes. All this, in my opinion, no matter how much you think it makes you happy, it actually makes you unhappy, because deep down, you know that you are unhappy, and only in front of people you pretend to be who you are not. And there you are just yourself and you do not strain to play a role. Nor will anyone accuse you of not having a high salary, of not being a good businessman, citizen and whatever you can think of. They simply have no requirements for themselves. He knows today that he must go and fetch water and water the horse. The other knows he has to cook, the third has to cut wood, and at noon they go home and start talking and resting, while they have lunch in the meantime. After eating, their faces show terrible satisfaction and calm and begin to sleep blissfully in the hammocks. It reminds me when I worked as a child in the countryside and when it gets hot at noon, how you lie down under a tree in the shade, eat tired and lying down in the shade is a terrible bliss. I see this in them. So when he has to bring water, he brings water. When he sees the stream, he first has fun for half an hour, swims, swims, laughs, rejoices. Then he knows he has to eat and just eat and have fun. Don't think about anything, no schedule, no hurry. Whatever he does, he does it and enjoys it, without rushing, without worrying, without anything.

My third theory is that they just don't know how poor they are, and maybe wealth doesn't make much sense to them.

My fourth theory is that they are happy because they have a very strong community. There they have no sense of individual. If one has a problem, everyone helps, they feel it as a whole. Everyone knows their task and role and does it with pleasure and with the feeling that they are useful. They have an elder and the respect for him is great. He has no intention of taking away his power or anything. And everyone listens to him. Abe, imagine a huge family that is so entangled that even the boundaries between individuals are blurred and felt as a single organism rather than as separate individuals. Moreover, in your natural environment, there is no feeling of alienation, that you are not yourself, that someone is pressuring you or something like that.

What do you think about that?
