You yourself recognize the fact that some want boys, others girls. Yes, it may be inclined to the applicant's own gender, but this can be explained by the desire to have a "second chance" to do everything right for your child, which was not for you. It's like living a life just like your minus the negatives. Maybe ... we can't know, but that explains it somewhat. As for perhaps the slightly more common desire for a male child, I think it may be for several reasons, and before I list them, I ask you and everyone else who will read the comment not to consider them my personal position on the matter, but simply for my guesses as to why someone would want to have a boy and would not stop trying until it happened to him. First, it may be desirable to continue the name, the genus. This is a bit of an obsolete notion, and not all women accept their husbands' names anymore, nor are children automatically baptized with only their father's surname, but there are families who are proud of their long lineage and name that has existed for perhaps several hundred years. It may be from the idea that boys are "easier" to watch. Some parents see having a girl as a lifelong "bodyguard" job and think that they will always have to worry about not doing something to her, no matter how well she is raised and does not get along with bad people. Or they may just see raising a boy and the phases he goes through as an interesting aspect of the life they have been waiting for and dreaming of. Or maybe it's for a completely different reason .. who knows ... SAD who are proud of their long lineage and name, which has existed for perhaps several hundred years.
