Vladimir Zhirinovsky is one of the most prominent, brilliant and scandalous figures in the “political firmament” of Russia, founder and chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), vice-speaker of the Russian State Duma of the fifth convocation.

In February 2014, a Russian politician called for the deprivation of independence from the Central Asian states. Zhirinovsky, speaking at a rally in Moscow, proposed creating a Central Asian federal district, and including Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
