Biography
Vladimir Yumatov - Honored and People's Artist of the Russian Federation with a PhD in Philosophy. In his arsenal there are dozens of rating full-length films and sensational series.
Vladimir Sergeevich is the namesake of the famous actor Georgy Yumatov, but his creative biography is no less rich and full of events and achievements. Vladimir has no acting education, but he looks at it philosophically:
The same Georgy Yumatov, Kirill Lavrov, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Georgy Burkov could not boast of the notorious "crust", but they became Artists with a capital letter.
fact
Childhood and youth
Vladimir Yumatov is a native Muscovite. He was born in May 1951 into an acting family. Parents - Sergey Yumatov and Tatiana Shravlina - graduates of the Bolshoi Theater Opera Studio, which was directed by Konstantin Stanislavsky.
It is no wonder that from childhood Vladimir joined the theatrical world. The creative atmosphere in the house, communication with the actor's bohemia, the stage lights and the smell of the backstage have become commonplace for the boy. Yumatov did not have a childhood dream of becoming an artist, but his parents discovered musical talent in their son and took him to the capital's military music school. Vladimir studied here until the 8th grade and performed: for five years a company of young drummers, which included Yumatov, marched at all the parades on Red Square. But not only the guy mastered the drum: Vladimir Sergeevich plays the piano perfectly today.
Vladimir Yumatov received his secondary education certificate at Moscow school # 820. Parents dreamed that their son would follow in their footsteps. He gave in and went to enter GITIS, where People's Artist of the USSR Andrei Goncharov was taking a course. But the third exam round was the last for the guy. Not at all upset because of the failure, Vladimir went to military service.
After demobilization, Vladimir Yumatov, unexpectedly for his relatives, became a student of the philosophy faculty of Moscow State University. The young scientist was so fascinated by his scientific activity that he graduated from graduate school and continued his studies at the Academy of Social Sciences, where he defended his Ph.D. thesis.
But the parental genes "made their way" here too. At the University, Yumatov was responsible for the cultural leisure of students. In his last year, Vladimir met Roman Viktyuk, who directed the Student Theater of Moscow State University. The director discerned acting talent in the young man. Under Roman Grigorievich Vladimir Yumatov worked for 7 years. Later, the artist said with a smile that he led a double life: in the morning he worked at the department of the Academy of the Central Committee, and in the evening he went on stage, playing a role in an anti-Soviet performance.
After graduating from the Academy, Vladimir Yumatov got a job at the USSR State Radio and Television: a place was found for him in the department of letters and sociology. The editorial office was located in the Sivtsev Vrazhek lane. A couple of years later, Yumatov was promoted to deputy editor, and soon he took the editorial chair. According to the artist, working in the editorial office exhausted him: he had to deal with intrigues, scandals and anonymous letters. The only outlet was the theater. Tired of "stewing" in this seething cauldron, Vladimir Yumatov preferred art.
fact
Theater
Yumatov's acting biography began on the theater stage. Valentina Talyzina, Efim Shifrin, Emmanuil Vitorgan worked in the student theater of Moscow State University, headed by Viktyuk. The performances staged by Roman Grigorievich were crowded with spectators.
From Viktyuk, Vladimir Yumatov in 1983 moved under the wing of Mark Rozovsky to the theater "At Nikitskiye Vorota" organized by him. The artist goes to this stage even today. In an interview, Yumatov said that at first he experienced considerable difficulties: if Viktyuk “painted” every movement of the actor on stage, then Rozovsky gave complete freedom, adjusting the game a couple of days before the premiere. Soon Vladimir Yumatov got used to new working conditions and found advantages in it.
On the stage of the Nikitsky Gate Theater, the actor played dozens of bright roles. In the production of Poor Lisa, Rozovsky entrusted Yumatov with the image of Erast, although even then the matured artist was more suited to the role of not the groom, but Lisa's father. But the skill of reincarnation inherent in Vladimir Sergeevich, in the eyes of the audience, turned a man into an ardent youth.
At the Mark Rozovsky Theater, Vladimir Yumatov played Serebryakov in the play Uncle Vanya, Lorenzo's brother in Romeo and Juliet, Fedya Protasov in The Living Corpse, Semyon Semyonich in the production of Crocodile and dozens of other vivid images.

Movies
The actor first appeared on the screen in 1979. 28-year-old Yumatov starred in the cult Soviet detective story "The meeting place cannot be changed." But the role of Vladimir turned out to be so small (he played a guy who was driven off the bench by the operative Vekshin) that the actor's name was not even indicated in the credits. But Vladimir Yumatov watched with bated breath the play of Vladimir Vysotsky, Sergei Yursky, Vladimir Konkin and Leonid Kuravlev. The theatrical artist "fell ill" with cinema and from that moment dreamed of getting back on the set.
The opportunity presented itself in 1986 in the movie "The Hitcher". Director Ivan Kiasashvili entrusted Yumatov with the image of the nugget inventor Kostylin. But work in a psychological drama, although it received positive reviews from film critics, did not bring fame to the actor.
Vladimir Yumatov considers his real film debut a role in the psychological detective story "Sunday, half past six," where he played the prosecutor's office investigator Nikolai Pavlovich. Roles in Rozovsky's comedy "Passion for Vladimir" and the psychological melodrama "The Seagull" soon followed.
The fashion for TV shows in the 2000s did not pass by Yumatov. Vladimir Sergeevich starred in all seasons of the crime tape "Turetsky's March", in the series "Line of Defense", "Moscow Saga", "Adjutants of Love" and the 2nd season "Next". The actor also appeared in "full meter", starring in 2002 in the drama Valery Todorovsky "Lover", where he found himself on the set with Oleg Yankovsky and Sergei Garmash. In the detective story "Time of the Cruel" he reincarnated as Stas Netrebin. The film received high ratings and critical praise for returning to the traditions of Russian psychological cinema.
In 2006, Vladimir Yumatov starred in the drama Pushkin. The Last Duel, directed by Natalia Bondarchuk. Yumatov got the role of the poet Vasily Zhukovsky, Alexander Pushkin was played by Sergei Bezrukov. The following year, the cult multi-part project "Liquidation" was released, where the artist read the offscreen text and reincarnated as the investigator Semchuk.
The versatility and multi-genre nature of the artist is proved by his reincarnation in negative characters, who, performed by Vladimir Yumatov, are no less convincing than positive characters. As proof - the roles of SS Obersturmbannfuehrer Stalbe in the series "Heavy Sand", Boris Pugo in the drama "Unknown putsch" and Mikhail Somov in the serial melodrama "Montecristo".
After the release of "Montecristo", the name of Vladimir Yumatov is pronounced by colleagues, film critics and viewers with special respect. Soon Yumatov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation, and significant projects appeared in the filmography: the detective "Black Wolves", the crime series "Once in Rostov", the historical dramas "Sunstroke" and "Grigory R.", where Yumatov played Pyotr Stolypin.
In the detective mini-series "Mosgaz", "Executioner", "Spider" and "Jackal" Vladimir Yumatov played the editor of the newspaper Grigory Chudovsky. In 2016, the 16-episode social drama The Shuttlewoman by Yulia Krasnova was released, where the actor got the role of retired major Ryabushkin.
fact
Personal life
The first wife of the artist was a woman named Nadezhda. Vladimir Yumatov met her at the Academy of Social Sciences. But the marriage turned out to be short: Yumatov was carried away by Irina Bulygina. Ira, 10 years younger than Vladimir Sergeevich, was born in India. Her father is an international journalist.
Bulygina graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Moscow State University. Carried away by Irina, Yumatov broke up with his first wife, leaving her an apartment.
In the spring of 1989, Vladimir Yumatov and Irina Bulygina got married. The couple had two sons - Sergey and Alexey. Contrary to the wishes of their father, the children did not become artists, focusing their efforts on learning foreign languages.

Vladimir Yumatov now
At 66, the artist is in excellent shape: today Yumatov is at the peak of popularity. 3-4 films with his participation are released a year, and there is time for the theatrical stage. In April 2017, Vladimir Sergeevich appeared on the screens in the action-packed 8-episode drama "Torgsin", where he played an academician.
Several more projects are in production, which viewers will see on screens in 2017. This is the 8-episode crime film "City", the drama "Crime", where Daria Moroz, Andrey Smolyakov and Pavel Priluchny will appear in the lead roles, and the next screen version of Alexei Tolstoy's novel "Walking Through the Torments". In all films, Vladimir Yumatov will appear in supporting roles, but so bright that it is difficult not to notice the artist.
