Vladimir Ryzhkov

Vladimir Ryzhkov is a Russian politician who was among the first to oppose the Emergency Committee in August 1991 and support Boris Yeltsin. He also became the first to join the opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ryzhkov's rise up the career ladder to the political Olympus took place quickly. The next year he becomes a member of the Political Conference of the Other Russia coalition, from which he leaves in 2007.

In the same year, the Supreme Court decides to liquidate the Republican Party of Russia due to the revealed violations of a number of laws of the Russian Federation. Ryzhkov appeals to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, and in 2012 the Ministry of Justice returns state registration to the party members.

There is a merger of the Party of People's Freedom (PARNAS) and the Republican Party of Russia. An opposition party structure "RPR-PARNAS" is being created.
