After graduating from college in 1977, Vladimir joined the VIA "Nadezhda". He first appears on stage as part of a professional-level group. A talented guy was quickly noticed and invited to the famous "Gems" ensemble.

For only one year Kuzmin was a member of the ensemble, but this allowed him to study in detail the specifics of working in a team from the inside and significantly improve his musical level. The young musician was strongly influenced by Vladimir Presnyakov Sr., who helped the newcomer to form his own special style of playing the guitar.

Two gifted musicians - Vladimir Kuzmin and Alexander Barykin in 1979 decided to found their own group called "Carnival". She very soon gained immense popularity, because Kuzmin already had many ready-made compositions that were just waiting for their presentation. In general, the repertoire of the new group mainly consisted of Kuzmin's songs, which gave it novelty and originality.

A year later, "Carnival" had ten songs, distinguished by a special romanticism. They were included in the Superman album, which was characterized by an impeccable level of musical performance. In 1981, three songs from the named album were released by a separate EP. As a result, the entire edition of the minion, which for the first time in the USSR indicated "Rock Group", is sold out almost instantly. It was a real musical breakthrough with an admixture of taboo and scandalousness.

With the help of the Tula Philharmonic, the Carnival group conducted their first and rather successful tour. But the team members were constantly changing, and after the next reorganizations it completely disintegrated. The main reason was the creative differences between Alexander Barykin and Vladimir Kuzmin. It was hard for two talents to get along in one team. Barykin later resumed the activities of the Carnival group, but without Kuzmin.

1982 was a fateful year for Vladimir Kuzmin - the musician creates the group "Dynamic". Vladimir was already a famous musician, so his new brainchild was immediately recognized. Participants of "Dynamics" got involved in overactive work and successfully toured in many cities of the country.

The repertoire of the guys was distinguished by a variety of styles: from indomitable rock and roll to stylish reggae blues. Vladimir, possessing sensitivity not only to music, but also to the surrounding reality, embodied his daily observations in his songs. Kuzmin gave this direction the name "musical feuilleton".

However, the working conditions for the rock band were not the best. The Ministry of Culture pursued an unambiguous anti-rock policy, which undoubtedly contributed to the disintegration of the "Dynamic" group in 1983. But Kuzmin found a way out of this situation. He began to work as an independent singer and musician, and the rest of the group became an accompanying group.

At the same time, the musicians continued to tour, and their fans could barely fit in stadiums and sports palaces. Vladimir almost every year was listed in the top lines of all kinds of charts. But gradually this group format exhausted itself, and a new stage began in the life and career of Kuzmin.

Quite unexpectedly, Vladimir Kuzmin became a member of a musical group at the Song Theater in order to work with Alla Pugacheva. Thus began a special stage in the musician's work, filled not only with collaboration with the greatest singer, but also with romantic relationships. 

These were the secret feelings of two strong people who attracted each other with beauty and talent, but also repelled, since both were leaders and did not want to obey anyone. Under the influence of the singer, even the style of Kuzmin's songs changed: rock and roll faded into the background, and ballads, lyrical songs and pop numbers took the main place.

Vladimir writes amazing songs for the Prima Donna, which instantly become hits. Also in 1985, the musician released his first solo disc under the meaningful title "My Love". But it did not contain all the achievements of Kuzmin and Alla Pugacheva, only 12 years later they were presented in the luxurious album "Two Stars".

The year 1987 saw the next resumption of the activity of the Dinamik group. This was followed by numerous concerts, recording of new songs, entire albums and the return of its former glory. The beginning of the 90s was not the best stage in the life of Vladimir Kuzmin. Harsh criticism from ill-wishers, as well as a nascent relationship with the American model, force the musician to leave the country and move to California (USA).
