A few months after the birth of their first child (Ville has a younger brother, Jesse, who was born in 1983), Anita and Kari moved to the Oulunkyla area. Later, it was here that the boy went to school. Ville's first acquaintance with music came from his father, who loved Finnish folk artists. And at the age of 8 the boy bought the album "Animalize" (1984) of the Kiss group, which formed his love for rock. Bassist Gene Simmons became his idol.

For a long time, the boy begged his parents to buy him an instrument, and now a second-hand guitar appeared in Ville's hands. After the 2nd grade, Valo went with her to a music school, where he met his future bandmate Mikko Paananen. Ville Valo acquired his first musical experience at school. His group BLOOD (from the English "blood"), consisting of children, gave only one concert in front of classmates.

At the age of 10, the young man joined the Eloveena Boys, for which he wrote his debut song, and in the 7th grade he met Mikko Lindström, the future guitarist of HIM. Together they played in the group Aurora, with Valo on drums and bass. Valo dropped out of basic education to focus on music. In his free time from rehearsals, he attended courses at the Helsinki Pop and Jazz Conservatory, wanted to enter the Sibelius Higher School of Music and Dance, but he was not accepted.

At the age of 13, Ville was expelled from school for poor performance and bad behavior. In order to somehow help the family, the boy got a job in his father's sex shop. Ville was not useful in military service either - asthma prevented. The young man could not trade forever in a sex shop and decided to direct all his efforts to music.

The HIM group, or rather, its predecessor Super Gin Simmons's Offspring, appeared in 1991. The line-up changed several times, but Ville Valo's school friends were always Mikko Lindström and Mikko Paananen.

In 1995, the trinity took the name HIM - His Infernal Majesty (from the English "His Satanic Majesty"). He continued the "dark" theme and the band's debut album "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 ", which was released in 1997. The disc contains 9 songs, but after the last 58 tracks follow (from 10 to 66). They do not have a name and represent silence - everything except the 66th. The total volume of music on the album is 666 megabytes.

Listeners in Finland and Europe loved this musical mystery, so the next HIM album was doomed to success. "Razorblade Romance", released in 2000, reached # 1 on the charts in Finland, Austria and Germany. The single "Join Me in Death" became especially popular, which is still considered the hallmark of HIM.

Ville Valo was not pleased with the fallen success. In an interview with Dark City magazine, the singer said:

Valo's dissatisfaction did not affect the popularity of HIM's next album "Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights" (2001), which reached top positions in several countries at once, leading in the UK and the USA. And "Dark Light" (2005) is considered the group's most successful album to date: it went gold in Germany, Great Britain and the USA, platinum - in Finland.

In 2010, HIM took a hiatus because drummer Mik Karppinen was diagnosed with a professional wrist injury. And in 2017 they announced the breakup.

The rockers gave their final show on the eve of 2018 at the Helldone festival. For Ville Valo, the end of HIM did not mean the end of his musical career. Even in his early years, the vocalist collaborated with many groups under pseudonyms. Only fans familiar with the unique voice of the Finn (in 2014 VVN Music recognized Valo as the owner of the 8th largest vocal range among famous singers), could recognize the “handwriting” of “His Satanic Majesty”.

From 1997 to 2004, Valo sang on the backing vocals of The 69 Eyes (5 albums were recorded with him) and starred in their video "Wasting the Dawn". In 1999, the vocalist joined Tehosekoitin's Freak Out, and in 2001 he played drums for Five Fifteen's Death of a Clown. Ville even collaborated with instrumental metal legends Apocalyptica - he sang Bittersweet with Lauri Yulönen from The Rasmus.

There are also mainstream side projects on Valo's account, for example, the song "Summer Wine", recorded with the Polish-German singer Natalie Avelon. The track went platinum in Germany.

In July 2016, Ville Valo's debut solo single "Olet mun kaikuluotain", a Finnish cover of John Denver's "Annie's Song", was released. The video for this song won the Emma Gala award. At the same time, the singer collaborated with MGT, resulting in the song "Knowing Me Knowing You".

Once Ville Valo was dubbed the plunderer of women's hearts, but in fact the singer cannot boast of an abundance of chosen ones: relations with his girls quickly ended due to jealousy.
