Biography
Viktor Vladimirovich Erofeev is a Russian writer, author of the works "Russian Beauty", "Life with an Idiot", "Good Stalin", presenter of radio and television programs.
The future writer was born on September 19, 1947 in Moscow in the family of the Soviet diplomat Vladimir Ivanovich Erofeev, who for some time worked in the apparatus of A. Kollontai, V. Molotov, and then with Joseph Stalin, accompanying the leader as an interpreter at meetings with French politicians. The Erofeevs were Russian by nationality. But some sources indicate the Jewish origin of the writer.
As a boy, Victor lived in Paris, where his father was sent as an ambassador. In 1956, the youngest son Andrei was born in the Erofeyev family, who later received a diploma in art criticism. Victor attended a school for the children of Soviet diplomats, and studied French in private.
After completing his studies, he entered the Moscow State University at the Romance-Germanic Department of the Philological Faculty. In 1970 he entered the graduate school of the Institute of World Literature. Three years later he defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Dostoevsky and French existentialism", which was published in the early 90s in the USA.
