The mother was not a public persona and, like most Indian women, was in the care of Sonny, Bobby and their younger sisters Ajita and Vidjita.

At some point, the relationship of the parents soured, and Dharmendra fell in love with a stage partner - charming Hem Malini. Because of this novel, the actor had family problems, having arranged which, he received the permission of the Brahmin council and married the beauty, not ending the previous marriage.
