After serving, the musician wanted to leave for his hometown, but he was offered to stay in Moscow, being invited to teach in the very jazz studio where he went to study. Victor agreed, at the same time he finally realized that he wanted to connect his professional life with music, and entered to study at the pop department of the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.

He graduated from the university in 1982, by this time he was already the drummer of the "Arsenal" group. A truly stellar biography of the musician begins in the group "Merry Guys", where he came in 1985 at the invitation of the band's permanent leader Pavel Slobodkin. Victor took the place of drummer Yuri Kitaev, who left the group.

In "Guys ..." Chaika worked until 1988. The reason for parting with the most popular group at that time was the work of composition. Chaika wrote the song "Winter Garden" for the ex-soloist of "Merry Children" Alexei Glyzin, which instantly became a hit.

For 3 years the citizen of Odessa has been working closely with the vocalist, who, having left Slobodkin, organized his own group "URA". Chaika became the musical director of this group and wrote more than 20 songs for Glyzin, which to this day remain golden hits in the singer's creative collection: "Winter Garden", "Ashes of Love", "You Are Not an Angel". The compositions became the owners of the then popular "Song of the Year", and the Chaika himself became a laureate of the prestigious song festival.

It was during this period that he changed his beautiful surname Sigal to Chaika. This is how "sea gull" is translated from English. As the composer himself admitted, circumstances forced him to do this - everyone around him thought that Victor borrowed the name of the famous Hollywood actor Stephen Seagal, making it his creative pseudonym.

Television recognition has made Viktor Chaika a famous songwriter. Since the beginning of the 90s, he began to actively cooperate with Russian pop stars. For Tatyana Ovsienko, who was just leaving the Mirage for a free solo voyage, Chaika recorded a whole album "Beautiful Girl", which contributed to the singer's success. Another pop diva with whom the composer fruitfully collaborated is Irina Allegrova. Thanks to the Chaika, hits such as "Transit Passenger" and "Hijacker" appeared in her repertoire.

In the same period, the Odessan tries himself in a singing role: in 1993 he performed the song "Mona Lisa" and shot a video for it, then "Goodbye, you are not mine anymore" was performed. Success led to the fact that in 1995 at the Soyuz studio there was released the first solo album of Viktor Chaika "Where are you going to go?"

However, the singer and composer is not only interested in his own solo work. Having recorded his album, he begins a joint project with Boris Moiseev. The collaboration of the two talents resulted in the album "Child of Vice", which was a wide success and even went on a separate tour.

In the late 90s, the musician, like many of his colleagues, went on tour in the United States. But Chaika's tour turned into a long stay in a foreign land: the author spent many years here, worked, wrote songs for emigrant singers, brought here parents who, due to their age, already demanded care and attention.

However, by a significant date - 50 years - the composer returns to his homeland. In December 2008, his jubilee is held on a grand scale at the Rossiya State Concert Hall: all the artists with whom Viktor Grigorievich worked are invited to the concert. A year before, Chaika took part in the REN-TV project "Men's Plastic", during which he underwent plastic surgery to rejuvenate.

Since 2010, the master has been collaborating with the film industry. The first film project for which he wrote music was the Russian-Chinese film The Last Secret of a Master. In 2016, Chaika writes the soundtrack for the series "Traffic Lights Family", and in 2017 - for the animated film "The Tale of Peter and Fevronia". The songs written by Viktor Chaika for this project are performed by singer Valeria.

The man recorded his third solo album "Press to Me" in 2016.

Victor Chaika does not hide his stormy personal life, lived over the years of work in show business, philosophically remarking: "Anything has happened ...".
