Vic Wilde is an athlete who proved with his own biography: nothing is impossible. The start of the career of the American snowboarder Wilde was successful, but soon the man was in for a failure. Nevertheless, the athlete did not give up and, having moved to Russia, literally began a new life, with his beloved woman and his favorite sport. Success again turned to face Vick, and now the athlete is one of the favorites of the Russian team.

The future athlete was born on August 23, 1986 in the American city of White Salmon (Washington). Little Vick had an interest in sports at the age of seven: the boy quickly learned to confidently hold onto a snowboard. Soon, the coaches noticed Wilde's talent, and at the age of 14 the young man became a full member of the United States youth team.

After school, Vic graduated from college in Salt Lake City, but did not work in his specialty, choosing a sports career and his favorite business.

After some time from the junior national team, Vik moved to the ranks of the adult snowboarder team. The best athlete showed his own skills in parallel slalom. Since 2005, Wilde began to perform at the World Cup stages, showing ever higher results. Great hopes were pinned on the young man, and Vic at first justified them: the next season was marked by the athlete getting into the twenty strongest snowboarders at the World Cup.

It seemed that after another year, Vic Wilde would certainly burst onto the podium. However, fate decreed otherwise: the 2009-2010 season was a disaster for the athlete. Vic improved on last year's result, but failed to deliver the top class performance expected by coaches and fans.

In the 2010-2011 season, the situation repeated itself: Vick never managed to get ahead. The situation was complicated by the fact that this time the athlete had to independently look for sponsors for himself and take care of the sports equipment himself. For the national snowboarding federation, Wilde was no longer of interest, so the athlete did not receive support.

This changed in 2011 when Vic Wilde accepted the offer of the Russian Federation and changed the flag. Having received Russian citizenship and the support of the coaching staff, Vic began to train with a vengeance and in the next sports season took third place in the World Cup.

The snowboarder's career took off again, and already in 2014 Vick Wilde began to be regarded as one of the main favorites of the Sochi Olympics. These Olympic Games would later be called the peak of Vic's career. Already at the qualifying stage, the athlete showed a serious superiority over his rivals. Vic's main competitor was Swiss Nevin Galmarini.

The competition turned out to be tense: the first race ended in failure for Wilde, but the athlete found the strength and finished first in the second and third. For Russia, Vic Wilde's victory was the first gold medal in the field of snowboarding.

This was not the end of Vic Wilde's series of victories: in the parallel slalom, the athlete faced a difficult confrontation with the Slovenian Jean Kosher, which Vik managed to tilt in his own favor, thus winning the second gold medal in a row. The athlete was applauded not only by Russians, but also by spectators from other countries: this story of the transformation of a middle-ranking athlete into a two-time Olympic champion impressed all sports fans.

The personal life of a snowboarder seems like a magical romantic fairy tale. The Russian snowboarder Alena Zavarzina became the chosen one of the stately athlete (Vic Wilde's height is 179 cm and weight - 82 kg). The young people met in 2009. Both came to the World Cup competition. Sympathy between the athletes arose immediately, and the common interest only helped to get closer.

Vic and Alena began to communicate, looking closely at each other. And only two years later, Vic moved to Russia. Alena then barely recovered from the injury, but found the strength to support her lover and help him start training in new conditions. At first, the girl even personally acted as Vic's coach.

In 2011, the lovers got married. The wedding took place in Novosibirsk, the hometown of Alena Zavarzina. And, judging by the photos that fans of athletes publish on Instagram and other social networks, the relationship of the spouses is developing happily.

Denis Tikhomirov, the leader of the snowboard federation of our country, stressed that Vik is approaching the competition in excellent shape. Tikhomirov also noted that, despite some flaws in the technique, Wilde is quite capable of giving 100% and surpassing himself.
