Then the series of wins only grew, starting with city competitions and ending with tournaments of the region and the country - Vasily always came out the winner. And at the age of 16 he first became the champion of Ukraine. Having spent the last fight at the 2012 Olympics and taking 1st place, the young man decided to quit his amateur career.

Lomachenko completed his official performances in the amateur ring in 2012, before signing a contract with WSB. So he ended up in semi-professional boxing, trained with Mikhail Melnik in the club "Ukrainian Atamans".

His debut took place 3 months later, over the next six months he met in the ring with Samuel Maxwell, Charlie Suarez, Albert Selimov, Domenico Valentino and Samat Bashenov. Each fight ended in victory for Vasily, after which he announced his transition to professionals.

In 2013, the Ukrainian signed a contract with the Top Rank promotion and soon had his debut fight with the Mexican Jose Ramirez. Having defeated his opponent ahead of schedule, Vasily received the title of international champion and began to prepare for the title fight with Orlando Salido, but lost it.

The belt remained with Salido, but when the man moved to a higher weight category, Lomachenko made a second attempt to become a champion. This time, Gary Russell, the younger, no less promising fighter, spoke against him. After a fierce fight, the Ukrainian received the long-awaited title, becoming the first athlete in 39 years who managed to do this in his 3rd professional fight.

Then in Lomachenko's career there were enough colorful fights, each of which was discussed for a long time by sports observers. But more than the rest, the audience remembered the fight with Anthony Kroll, which took place in April 2019 and determined the champion in the WBO, WBA and The Ring versions.
