Lera Gechner is a jazz singer, founder and leader of the funk show groups LERA, Lera Gechner Band and NO BUDDS. In 2016, she took part in the fifth season of the popular TV show "The Voice".

Lera was born in St. Petersburg. Her father was a rather famous composer and multi-instrumentalist Yuri Kasyanik, and her mother sang along as a backing vocalist in a number of vocal and instrumental ensembles. In the LERA collective she mixed jazz standards with rock and reggae, in the Lera Gechner Band she also mixed such styles as funk, soul, blues, ballads, disco, jazz with this cocktail. There was also a similar project "No Budds".

In general, the style of the singer's teams is very difficult to drive into the framework of any one genre. Together with the Lera Gechner Band, in 2004, the singer recorded and released the studio album Today I am Part of You, Dear. And five years later, in collaboration with Alexei Popov, after joint collaboration on a number of projects, she released the disc "Flora & Fauna", consisting of two parts.

One half contains traditional jazz and funky compositions in an old, "vintage" arrangement. And the second part is composed of songs by Lera Gechner, decorated in a modern way, using electronic samples and with the participation of professional DJs.

In 2016, the already highly experienced and in-demand performer decided to try her hand at the Voice TV show. As the singer said in an interview, unlike beginners, she no longer has any overestimated expectations and pseudo-ambitions, so she enjoys the very process of performing from the big stage and sings primarily for the audience. And the requests of her fans, who wanted to see her favorite singer on television, prompted Leru Gechner to come to the Voice project.

At the blind auditions, Gechner presented to the jury the song "My gypsy" by Vladimir Vysotsky. Her expressive manner amazed Polina Gagarina and Leonid Agutin, and Dima Bilan even danced during Lerin's number. It was in favor of the young mentor that Lera made her choice and eventually joined Bilan's team.

When Lera lived and worked in Germany, she met the German photographer Ulrik Genner. Later, he also began making documentaries. The personal life of Lera Gechner was associated with her husband for several years, but later they parted, and the singer returned to her homeland. 

By the way, her new surname "Gehner" in Russian is pronounced exactly like "Genner", but when changing documents, the passport department employees made a mistake, making pre-letter transliteration, and now it is "Gehner" that appears in Lera's Russian passport.
