In 2008, a new musical project called "Centr" loudly announced itself on the Russian stage - then the guys won the MTV-Russia music award for achievements in the field of contemporary music and the development of the Russian show business industry. Having existed for eight years, the team broke up. But his soloist Slim remained on the stage, who managed to win the recognition of many fans in Russia and the CIS countries.

Vadim Vitalievich Motylev (the real name of the rapper Slim) was born in Moscow on January 21, 1981. The musician does not advertise his family. The boy received his secondary education in the Moscow secondary school № 569 and 204. Even in his early childhood, Vadim showed a desire for musical art. Considering that the majority of teenagers are fond of rap, Motylev was no exception. At the age of 12-14, his favorite performers were the then popular Snoop Dog, the American band Run-DMC and others.

Having a naturally well-developed ear, the young man wanted to try to write his own music and poetry to it. Vadim's first experiments were intended exclusively for a narrow circle of the guy's friends, but in 1996 Motylev and a friend tried to create the first serious group performing rap.

To start a serious musical career, Vadim needed a companion and like-minded person, who became the same novice rapper, familiar to the public under the pseudonym Lexus. At the end of 1996, friends recorded their first song called "Stone Jungle". Considering that these were the first steps of the guys in show business, and the financial situation of both left much to be desired, they themselves became the authors of the words and music, and the composition was recorded at the illegal recording studio "Meaning of Life".

"Stone Jungle" was included in the collection of Russian hip-hop music "Prosto Rap" by Rap Recordz. Then the name of the young group "Smoke Screen" appeared. It is not easy for aspiring rappers to compete in the harsh world of Russian show business, so soon Slim and Lexus joined the big hip-hop formation "Dense". In 1997, the "Dremuchikh" released their first album with Slim's participation "183".

In parallel with their work in the alliance, the guys continue to write lyrics and music for the Smoke Screen album. Their first disc entitled "Without contraception ..." was released only in 2000, which, according to media reports, is associated with drug problems among the guys. The then already popular performer Dolphin participated in the creation of the album - the guys worked with one sound engineer.

The unusual and even revolutionary sound of the tracks from the first Smoke Screen album attracted attention to the musicians - they had fans not only in Moscow, but also in other cities of Russia. The guys began to give concerts in clubs, interviews on radio stations and appeared on the covers of fashionable youth magazines.

Three years later, the second album "Smoke Screen" was released under the title "You wanted the truth?" When creating the tracks, Slim and Lexus went from experimental to classic rap. When the disc went on sale, no one doubted the band's success. It was then that Slim met Guf. The young people considered each other's creative potential, which resulted in the jointly recorded track "Wedding", which was included in the third album of "Smoke Screen" called "Explosive Device".

Since 2004, there has been a short break in the work of Smoke Screen. Lexus plunged headlong into family life, and Slim decided to try himself in a new project "Centr". Nevertheless, the creative break did not mean the breakup of the group - the guys released their next album "Etazhi" in 2006. The underground tracks from this album brought the performers a new wave of popularity.

Although "Etazhi" became the last album of "Smoke Screen", the group existed for three more years: the guys gave concerts in clubs, where they were joined by another popular hip-hop performer David Nuriyev, who performed under the pseudonym Ptakha.

During this period Slim completely focused on the new project "Centr" together with the already familiar Guf and Ptah. In 2007, the first album of the Kacheli group was released. Despite the fact that the theme of drug use became the leitmotif of the disc, and the tracks themselves often contained obscene language, the composition "City of Roads" from the album "Swing" took first place in the ranking of the music award for achievements in the field of contemporary music and the development of the Russian show business industry TV channel MTV-Russia. By the way, the name of the album "Swing" in slang means a narcotic mixture of cocaine and heroin.

The second album of the group "Efir normal" became the best in 2008 in the rating of the Russian portal Rap. As a result, it received the status of a gold disc with a circulation of 50 thousand copies. A year later, Guf left the band to pursue a solo career, and Slim recorded a solo album without leaving Centr.

Simultaneously with the release of Vadim Motylev's disc "Cold", the rapper shot a video for the composition of the same name. The video remained at the top of the charts for several more months after the album's release. And at the concert in support of the album Slim performed together with Lexus, performing additionally several old tracks from the Smoke Screen repertoire.

Without abandoning either the Smoke Screen, the Center, or his solo career, in 2011 Slim released a joint work with the Constant collective under the name Azimuth, and five months later the album Legends of ... Centr was released. , which is the result of the joint work of two Moscow rap groups of the same name. Slim's versatile and flamboyant work helped him achieve the 2012 Artist of the Year title. And in the summer of the same year, the musician released a new disc "Saint-Tropez", the clip "Girl" from which got into the YouTube rating as one of the most successful. The video clip for the track "Center" and "Caspian Cargo" called "Houdini" was no less successful.

Vadim, unlike his colleagues on the stage, tries to keep his biography and family life secret. 

The rapper's wife Elena Motyleva also does not cover her personal life. It is only known that the couple has a son, whose photo Motylev published on his personal page on Instagram.

Despite the obvious success, in May 2016, the Russian rap group, performing at a concert venue in Frankfurt am Main, announced their retirement. According to the group members, the guys want to move to a new format and perform solo, but this does not mean that their creative paths will no longer intersect. And already in November of the same year Slim presented to the public his fifth solo album called "IKRA".

Despite the conflict between Slim and Guf in 2010, in the summer of 2017 the musicians released a joint album "GuSli". However, Slim does not stop there and continues to expand the horizons of his creativity. In July 2017, the disc “Ice. Part 2 ”of the Russian-German rapper Schokk (or Ya), which included a composition recorded together with Slim.

On November 30, Slim and Guf presented a new joint album "GuSli II".
