Biography

Australian by birth, Stuart Beattie studied at the Knox Grammar School (Sydney, Australia) and later at Charles Stuart University (Bathurst, Australia). In the early 1990s, he traveled to Los Angeles for a year of screenwriting studies; this experience anchors him a little more in the film industry. After writing for a few Australian feature films (Joey in 1997, The Protector in 1998 and Kick in 1999), he was contacted by Jerry Bruckheimer to provide the screenplay for the first installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean saga. The unexpected success of the film will therefore open several perspectives for Stuart Beattie. This is how he is found in the writing of relatively important feature films such as Collateral (2004), 30 Jours de Nuit (2007),

In 2010, he directed his first feature film, Tomorrow, when the war began, an adaptation of the eponymous novel by James Marsden. Four years later, we find him directing and writing I, Frankenstein, a blockbuster from Kevin Grevioux's comic-book.
