Sooronbay Jeenbekov

Sooronbai Jeenbekov is the first president of post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan to come to power as a result of an election, not a coup. Like his predecessor, the leader of Kyrgyzstan declares his attitude to Russia as a strategic partner. Sooronbai Sharipovich's first foreign trip as president was a visit to Moscow and a meeting with Vladimir Putin. Sooronbai, the third oldest child in the family of a collective farm chairman, was born in November 1958 in the south of Kyrgyzstan, in the village of Kara-Kuldzha. The family had 10 children in total. Sooronbai's brother Asylbek from 2011 to 2017 served as speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament.

The name of the president is translated as "calm owner." In April 2016, President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev appointed Sooronbai Sharipovich as Prime Minister.

In October 2017, Jeenbekov won the first round of the presidential election, gaining 54.74% of the vote. Sooronbai Sharipovich was considered as the candidacy of Atambayev. It was assumed that Almazbek Sharshenovich would acquire the status of a national leader and would actually lead the country.

By the first decree, the new president of Kyrgyzstan conferred the title of Hero of the Republic on his predecessor. However, in the future, Sooronbai Sharipovich reacted negatively to Atambayev's attempts to turn him into a "political puppet." At first, criminal cases were initiated against people from the ex-president's entourage.

The predecessor did not heed Jeenbekov's messages, and then Almazbek Sharshenovich was reminded of old sins, in particular, the strange release from prison of Atambayev's former bodyguard, Erkin Mambetaliev, who was convicted of murder.
