Smetto Quando Voglio Review

Pietro Cinni (Edoardo Leo) is a lecturer in neuroscience at the University. It is also engaged in promising scientific developments. Pietro very much hopes that after defending before the commission his method of modeling organic molecules, he will receive perpetual funding - and then be able to breathe a quiet sigh. Pietro's scientific director, Professor Seta (Sergio Solly), assures Cinni that everything will be fine and promises to help with his political connections among the members of the commission.

However, it turns out that Pietro not only does not receive perpetual funding, but also with him terminate the existing contract - and he loses those beggarly five hundred euros a month, which has at the moment.

Pietro can not confess to his wife Julia (Valeria Solarino) that he lost his job. He's lying to her that he's got constant funding. But what to do with all this next - he has not yet come up with.

Pietro doesn't bring money to the group of sluts: they all owe him five hundred euros, but complain about the crisis, say that there is no money, and ask to "write in their account."

Once Pietro meets on the street his disciple Maurizio (Gulermo Poji), who claims that he - an orphan and barely interrupts from bread to water. Maurizio rides with a friend in a luxury car in a nightclub. Pietro goes for him and the club finds out that Maurizio gives a hundred euros for the pill Ecstasy, the cost of which is just a few euros.

And then Pietro has an idea. Italy has a list of banned drugs. But if you synthesize a drug that is not yet on the list, it can earn excellent money and at the same time not much to break the law.

Pietro decides to create a gang, and from the same poor people as him: scientists-teachers who can not do what they love and work part-time.

Thus, in the company of Pietro find themselves: chemist Alberto Petrelli (Stefano Fresie), currently working as a dishwasher, anthropologist Andrea De Sanctis (Pietro Sermonti), who was not hired in the workshop because he was suspected of having a higher education, archaeologist Arturo Frantini (Paolo Calabresi), whose archaeological van can drive anywhere, a specialist in dynamic macroeconomics Bartolomeo Bonelli (Libero De Rienzo), trying to evade marriage to a gypsy from the circus of the genus and two world-class linguists, experts in epigraphic Latin texts- Marria Argy (Valerio Epri) and Giorgio Sironi (Lorenzo Lavia), working at a gas station and arguing with each other in pure Latin.

***

This film was staged by director-debutant Sidney Sibilia - this is his first full-length film, and he was also involved in the creation of the script - paired with two other screenwriters.

By the way, this time for the Deutsche box office the original name almost did not lie: in the original picture is called "I will stop when I want" and "I want and jump" - in general, quite a successful adaptation, in my opinion.

Sydney did not hide that he was inspired by old Italian crime comedies, as well as the TV series "Breaking Bad", where a brilliant chemist, who has cancer, begins to make the super-pure drug methamphetamine to make money for his family.

However, unlike "Breaking Bad" here - no drama, but it is a typical Italian crime comedy: a lot of emotions, a lot of shouting and waving hands, fun, funny and funny. It's all a bit of a piece of crime, but it's always the case in crime comedies.

Of course, this team of nerds, who quickly earned a lot of money, begins to change a lot. Expensive clothes, expensive cars, girls from escort services, a luxurious penthouse for parties - to watch it is quite interesting. It is also interesting to watch Pietro explain to his perplexed wife where he comes from all these expensive things and what he does at university at night.

Of the whole company of nerds, Alberto's fat man is the coolest. He first begins to test their own product - for purely research purposes - then twists the love with a Russian girl from escort services named Paprika (Katherine Shulga), well, you need to see how gradually changing his way of dressing, and this manner will go the hard way from the smothered dishwasher to the pimp of the middle hand.

Semiotic linguists are also beginning to taste for luxury life, and it will be difficult to stop them.

We understand that in the end, this gang will collapse, because the sinister drug dealer Morena (Neri Marcore) will not forgive the invasion of strangers on their territory, but since it is about comedy, our heroes are unlikely to wait for the pelvis with cement and the subsequent jump in the Tiber.

For the director-newcomer Sibilia turned out quite strong crime comedy, which I watched not without pleasure. Here everything is laid in a clear scheme of the genre, which the director follows rigorously, and also in the picture is quite skillfully woven and social satire associated with people of science, who are forced to deal with hell knows what, because their scientific activities do not bring any money.

The only thing I frankly did not like about this film is the way the director treats the color scheme. The whole film is shot through color filters that make the picture very "acidic" - like a beginner who for the first time in his life broke to Lightroom and now tries to "make beautiful" for his photos.

I understand, of course, we are talking about drugs in the film, but this snatched color of useful semantic load, in my opinion, does not carry, but the brain from it slightly boils.

In Italy, this film made a furor: it received as many as twelve nominations for the main Italian film award "David Donatello" and collected an excellent box office.

After that, it was to be expected that the director would continue to cultivate such a well-ascended deli, which happened. He shot two sequels" I Want and Jump: Masterclass and I'll Jump: Superheroes, and somehow it so happened that both sequels came out in 2017. Actually, I was recommended to watch "I want and jump: Masterclass", I found out that this is a sequel (or prequel) of a very popular film of 2014, and then decided to look first the original.

As you probably have already understood, I did not regret it: it is a really funny crime comedy. I was looking at Italian with subtitles. I listened to two variants of voiceovers that walk on the web - "SV Studio" and for iTunes. In my opinion, both options are quite good. Part of the color, of course, disappears, but strongly impressed these translations will not spoil.

Well, I'll try to see the sequels: I wonder if Sibilia has enough fuse and if anyone can take away from him these wild jaundice color filters.
