He spent his childhood in Hampshire, where the boy grew up under the influence of English folk music, which was promoted by his parents and two sisters, who arranged gatherings to the accompaniment of a banjo and violin. Unlike those close to him, the future star did not have an academic approach to art, but could walk up to the piano and “feel” to unmistakably play the desired melody.

Bonobo is very attached to the family - in 2017 the DJ dedicated his sixth studio album "Migration" to her.

At 16, the teenager was fond of rock, performing as a drummer in the local neo-hardcore band Finger Charge. Then he moved to Brighton to study at an art school, and eventually plunged into electronic music.

The debut compilation When Shapes Join Together was presented by Simon in 1999 through Tru Thoughts, to which Simon remained faithful even after the hype surrounding the release of Scuba's first mini-album the following year. At the same time, the premiere full-length collection Animal Magic appeared, which received mostly positive reviews from critics and colleagues.

The artist's discography grew steadily from year to year - in 2003 he presented the "studio" Dial 'M' for Monkey, then Days to Come, Black Sands, The North Borders and the already mentioned Migration. Plus - a few remixes. Despite the sonority of the chosen pseudonym, Bonobo has repeatedly confessed - he regrets that he stopped on it:

As for the musical style, at the beginning of his creative career, the DJ gravitated towards trip-hop, combining jazz and Indian melodies in it, although well-known print media called him an adherent of downtempo and ambient. Green willingly collaborates with singers and performers (Bajka, Andreya Triana, Erykah Badu) and toured in support of Black Sands with his own band.

The musician keeps his personal life a secret, preferring to publish on Instagram not photos with a possible lady of the heart or wife, but incredibly stylish pictures “from work” and travels. Simon's versatility and originality is also evidenced by the fact that he successfully combined the professions of a DJ and a church bell ringer.

In 2018, George Fitzgerald and Bonobo recorded the single Outgrown, and the following year, the artist presented the compositions Ibrik and Linked, as well as an album with mixed tracks Fabric Presents Bonobo, to the audience.
