Sholban Valerievich Kara-ool was born on July 18, 1966. His homeland is the village of Choduraa, Ulug-Khem region, Tuva ASSR. In interviews, he repeatedly admitted that his interest in activities for the benefit of society originated under the influence of his parents.

Father Valery Khovalygovich graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute, headed a school and a village council in a number of villages. Mother Anai Balchirovna taught her native language, was a social scientist-historian and a member of the women's movement. In addition to Sholban, they raised two more sons - Leonid and Yuri, who also chose a career in politics. Kara-ool recalls that his family moved from one region to another many times.

So the mother told her son, and Sholban learned from his parents this inexhaustible desire to bring benefit to the people, to be needed by him. In total, the future head of the region changed 4 schools - he received a certificate of maturity in the village of Buren-Khem (Zubovka) of the Kaa-Khem region. By the way, for the entire existence of this rural school, Kara-ool became the first graduate to receive a gold medal.

Then it was time to graduate. The young man entered the Ural State University. AM Gorky at the Faculty of Philosophy. From 1989 to 1990, he trained at the Far Eastern State University (now the Far Eastern Federal University). True, even then Sholban understood that the scientific path was not for him, and dreamed of social and political service. In 1993, Kara-ool completed his postgraduate studies at USU, but not as a philosopher, but as a sociologist.

The first episode in the work biography of Sholban Valerievich was his work in the Suk-Bazhyn secondary school of the Kaa-Khem region, where he got a job as a sports instructor. For some time, Kara-ool had to live away from his wife and daughter, in Kyzyl, where he tried to find funds to buy housing. Together with his friends, the future head of the republic sold music cassettes in a kiosk, a car served as a place to sleep.

And at the age of 32, Kara-ool began to build a family nest, and after 8 years in the Kyzyl region near the Serebryanka river a 2-storey mansion appeared that could accommodate a large family.

In 1998, a second daughter was born, who was given the name Dolgarmaa. The heir Valery was born in the new century, in 2001. From his father, he inherited a love of sports. In his youth, Sholban was fond of oriental martial arts, went to the karate section and even became a silver medalist of the Chinese boxing championship (sanda), held in 1988 in Alma-Ata.

Sports are still of interest to Kara-ool - in May 2018, he even recorded an interview with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in one of the Moscow sports complexes. The son followed in his father's footsteps, taking up karate, wrestling and football.
