Biography
Shawn Robert Ashmore was born in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, a minute after his twin brother Aaron Ashmore, also an actor. He grew up in St. Albert, Alberta, and Brampton, Ontario. At the age of seven, when her mother, also having a twin, became a member of the Multiple Births Association (charitable foundation, internationally, which supports families with twins) in Alberta, Canada , the Ashmore twins are already in the spotlight.
Shawn stood out from his brother at 14 when he was nominated for the Gemini Award for his performance in "Guitarman" (1994). From then on, his career took off. He turns in many TV movies and makes appearances in series such as Beyond the Real or Smallville where he plays the role of Eric Summers in two episodes (season 1 episode 12 and season 3 episode 9), a series which also has offered his brother the role of Jimmy Olsen from season 6 to 8.
But it was in 2000 with X-Men where he played Bobby Drake alias Iceman that he obtained fame. He reprized his role for X-Men 2 (2003) for which he undergoes a strict diet and intense physical training for 6 months. The success of both films led him in 2006 to replay the final confrontation for X-Men.
Two years later, he tried his hand at horror film with The Ruins and returned to the small screen, the time of an appearance in 2010 in episode 5 of season 3 of the series Fringe. The same year, he plays in the snowy thriller Frozen, where he meets Dana Renee Wasdin whom he marries on July 27, 2012. On the small skylight side, Ashmore obtains in 2013 one of the main roles of the lucrative television series at Thriller Following scope Kevin Bacon. The comedian then returns Iceman's costume for the purposes of X-Men: Days of Future Past.
