Sharip Umkhanov is a Russian singer of Chechen origin, a participant in the Voice-2 show.

Sharip was born on March 29, 1981 in the village of Tolstoy-Yurt near Grozny. In the family of Isa and Manzhi Umkhanov, in addition to Sharip, two more sons were raised - Ibrahim, Ruslan, as well as the daughter of Kheda. The boy finished school in his native village at a difficult time for the country: the second Chechen military campaign began.

Since childhood, Sharip was drawn to music, but he did not have the opportunity to get a professional education in his homeland. At the age of 27, Sharip graduated from university and went to Kiev, where, according to information from the singer's official group, he began working at the opera house. After gaining stage experience on the Kiev stage, the musician moved to Moscow, where he temporarily got a job in a specialty familiar from his youth at a construction site. Umkhanov worked in the construction of city highways, bridges and tunnels for almost a year.

In the evenings in front of his friends, Sharip arranged small concerts: he sang the hits of his favorite performers, as well as familiar songs of Russian chanson with a guitar. In the second round of "duels" in a duet with Ekaterina Kuzina, a lyrical composition "The Prayer" from the repertoire of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli was performed. Of the two competitors, the coach left Umkhanov in the team.

At the third stage "knockouts", when Sharip had to fight with two rivals - Yana Rabinovich and Carmen Roxy - the singer sang David Tukhmanov's song "From a half-word, from a half-glance." On December 13, in the quarterfinals, Umkhanov got a single from the Scorpions repertoire "Maybe I Maybe You", with which he again coped successfully and easily bypassed his rivals - Alexander Belyakov and Polina Konkina. In the semifinals, Sharip Umkhanov met with the Belarusian baritone Sergei Volchkov.

After counting the votes, it turned out that the points were unevenly distributed between the musicians. The advantage in points from the mentors was on Sharip's side, while Sergey had almost twice the number of viewers' votes. As a result, not much ahead of Umkhanov in points, Volchkov advanced to the final. Having performed Gregorio Allegri's masterpiece “Miserere”, Umkhanov honorably said goodbye to the audience.

Almost immediately, an announcement appeared on the official website of Grigory Leps that the production center of the chanson star was starting to work on a new long-term project, in which Sharip Umkhanov, the star of the Voice-2 show, became a participant.

In 2014, Sharip Umkhanov begins work on a solo program. At the beginning of February, the participants of the Voice show who reached the semifinals - Sergei Volchkov, Nargiz Zakirova, Tina Kuznetsova, Gela Guralia, Elena Maksimova and Sharip Umkhanov - sounded the Queen's single We Are the Champions at the opening ceremony Olympic Games in Sochi.
