Based on the words of the current leader of the group, despite the fact that the album began to be prepared in the winter of 2013 as a release by the group "KiSh", Gorshenyov did not write any music or lyrics for it. Before his death, he only managed to come up with a vocal melody of one of the compositions, which was composed by Leontyev.

Therefore, the author of the lyrics and music of the debut album of the group "Northern Fleet" is mainly Alexander Leontyev. During the studio sessions, the musicians prepared 10 tracks in draft form. At the end of September, the first song "Strela" was recorded, released on October 2, it was she who preceded the release of the full album. This was followed by a break in composing and recording new tracks, which is associated with the large farewell tour of the group "KiSh".

At the end of winter 2014, the musicians began writing songs for the first album again and began rehearsals. On February 14, the official communities of the Northern Fleet were opened on the social networks VKontakte, Facebook and Twitter, and on March 11, on YouTube. On May 14, 2014, the official website of the Northern Fleet team began to operate.

The leader of the group "Northern Fleet" in one of the interviews mentioned that new compositions will be uploaded to official accounts as they are written. In December 2013, the newly-made group already had musical accompaniment for 12 compositions ready.

In mid-March, the musical accompaniment for 20 songs was already written, of which 10 compositions were chosen for the album. As a result, 3 songs were recorded from March 25 to March 30. In mid-April 2014, information appeared that a video was being prepared for one of the new songs; the video was filmed in Moscow.

And already on April 12, the official community posted a trailer for the first video, from which the name of the song became known - "Forward and Up". At the end of April, the song and video were published on all official social networks. We decided to finalize the two remaining tracks.

Based on the words of Yakov Tsvirkun, it was originally planned that half of the Northern Fleet's concert repertoire would be songs by the KiSh group. However, in May 2014, information was made public that Andrei Knyazev prohibits performing compositions of which he is the author.

The debut performance of the group under the new name "Northern Fleet" took place on May 24, 2014 in Nizhny Novgorod at the "Next Generation" festival. The first songs sounded there: "The Old Pied Piper", "Red Rivers", "Born to Kill". After that the group had several performances at the rock festivals Kubana, Ours in the City, Ostrov.

In September 2014, the Northern Fleet group went on their first tour under the title "Only Forward!". As part of this tour, the first performance took place in Vologda on September 20.

The first major concert took place on November 15, 2014 in Moscow. During the tour, the group played 34 concerts in Russia and Belarus. In early 2015, the Northern Fleet continued touring the Russian Federation with their first album.

On February 3, 2016, a recording was posted in the official community, where the title of the 2nd album was revealed - "Misanthropy". The album was released on March 1, 2016, after which the band members went on tour. In September 2016, the Northern Front toured the cities of Ukraine for the first time.

The release of the new album "INOY" took place on April 13, 2018. The key definition of this album is experiment. The band members describe it as pure creativity, music without guidelines for direction and style. After the release, the group held 9 presentations of a new concert program in major cities of Russia.

On the eve of summer, on May 27, 2018, the group performed at the 17th annual international rock festival "OKNA OPTKROY-2018". In addition, the members of the Northern Fleet group and Alexei Gorshenyov, the younger brother of the deceased leader, are planning on July 19 to hold a concert in memory of Mikhail Gorshenov in St. Petersburg, in the A2 club. And on August 4, 2018, the team will perform at the Nashestvie festival in Bolshoy Zavidovo.

Each track at the performance of the Northern Fleet group is accompanied by a unique video sequence. On April 20, 2018, a new film-sketching video for the song "Leningrad" is presented.
