Sergey Plotnikov is the pride of the Russian ice hockey team. The forward of the St. Petersburg club "SKA" bears the title of Honored Master of Sports and World Champion. Sergei played in the Continental Hockey League, representing first the Khabarovsk Amur, and then the Lokomotiv team from Yaroslavl. Sergey was born on June 3, 1990 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. His parents were not associated with sports by profession, but father Sergei (in honor of him and named his son) played hockey and football at an amateur level. Sergei Jr. was brought to the rink at a very early age - at the age of 5 he was already confidently standing on skates and holding a stick.

Since there were no professional hockey teams in the city, Sergei just worked in the section, but he really liked this sport. When the boy was in the second grade of high school, young hockey players from Khabarovsk came to Komsomolsk-on-Amur as part of an amateur competition. Coach Sergei Kurmesha was with them. He noticed the "promising" Plotnikov.

When Sergei was 9 years old, a difficult and responsible decision was made - he alone was released to Khabarovsk at the invitation of the coach of the hockey club "Amur" Kurmeshi. This step was not easy for parents, my mother was especially worried, but the father insisted that his son seriously devote himself to sports.

As Sergey himself admits in an interview, then he had a hard time. In a strange city, alone, he first lived in a boarding school, then "wandered" to the apartments of distant relatives, teammates, sometimes he lived with a coach. Studying at school faded into the background, hockey was in the first place.

At first Sergey played in the Amur-2 line-up. In the early years, the novice hockey player did not show great results on the ice, so he was not invited to the youth team. The striker managed to really prove himself in the 2007-2008 season, then Sergey was invited to play for the Ermak club for a year, and then he joined the main team of Amur.

In September 2011, a terrible tragedy occurred - a plane crashed with the main staff of the Lokomotiv hockey club from the city of Yaroslavl. Hockey players, their coaches and accompanying staff were killed. This terrible event was difficult to survive, but time passes, and in 2012 the club's management began to recruit a new roster. Among those invited was Sergey Plotnikov. The athlete recalls this time this way:

By that time, the hockey player was already playing confidently, and showed himself well in Lokomotiv's matches. As a result, Plotnikov was taken to the Russian national team. He performed at the KHL All-Star Game, and in 2014 went to represent the country at the World Cup in Minsk. There, Russian hockey players won a landslide victory and won gold medals.

At the same time, in 2015, Plotnikov, as part of the Russian national team, flew to the next ice hockey world championship, held in the Czech Republic. Apparently, the athlete's patriotic feelings are stronger than the desire to prove himself on the American ice, since Sergei showed himself in the best way as part of the Russian team, and the players won the championship silver.

In May 2016, he flew to Russia to play again with the national team at the World Championships, which were held in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Russian hockey players took third place, losing to the teams of Canada and Finland, but they beat the US national team with a score of 7: 2.

At home, Sergei received an offer from the SKA hockey club from the city of St. Petersburg, which he gladly accepted. In the 2016-2017 season, Plotnikov has already played for the St. Petersburg club. In the spring of 2017, as part of the Russian national team, he again went to the already fourth world championship for himself.

This time the tournament was held in two countries at once: France and Germany. After a series of games, the Swedish national team won the championship title, leaving the hockey players from Canada with the silver. And the team from Russia took, as in 2016, third place, this time beating the Finns with a score of 5: 3.

While living and training in Khabarovsk, Sergei met a girl named Maria. She was a student at the time, studying to be a marketer. The couple met for several years, and when the time came to move to Yaroslavl, the hockey player made an offer to his beloved.

Now Sergey and Maria are husband and wife. When Plotnikov was invited to the NHL, his wife followed him, and then the couple returned to Russia. Maria tries not to miss a single game of her husband, communicates closely with the wives and companions of other athletes.
