Sergey Ignatiev has devoted more than a decade to managing the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (CB). In 1969, the future chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation got a job as a technician-adjuster in the Gidroelektromontazh trust. Including his hands in Arkhangelsk, Ukhta and Syktyvkar, thermal power plants were erected. However, Ignatiev refused the future simple worker, becoming interested in numbers. The very next year Sergei Mikhailovich entered the Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov at the Faculty of Statistics, in 1975 he graduated as an economist and teacher of political economics.

Ignatiev did not stop at mastering basic economic knowledge: in 1978 he graduated from graduate school, and in 1980 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on inflationary processes in Yugoslavia.

Simultaneously with obtaining his degree, Sergei Mikhailovich lectured at the Leningrad Institute of Soviet Trade named after V.I. F. Engels (today - St. Petersburg State University of Trade and Economics). He devoted 13 years to teaching, from 1978 to 1991, having managed to work at the Leningrad Institute of Finance and Economics. N.A. Voznesensky (today - St. Petersburg State University of Economics).

In his youth, Ignatiev was lucky enough to get into the society of gifted economists in the person of such statesmen as Anatoly Chubais, Yegor Gaidar, Pyotr Aven. While comrades who respect him for his academic knowledge were building a business and going into politics, Sergei Mikhailovich taught. During these 13 years at the departments, he wrote one of the most detailed textbooks - "Microeconomics", as well as over 20 scientific works.

Yegor Gaidar served as Minister of Economy and Finance under the first President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin. At a high post, he did not forget about the all-knowing, experienced, structured Sergei Ignatiev and in 1991 took him to the post of deputy. A year later, Ignatiev first took a position on the Presidium of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, however, as Deputy Chairman of Viktor Gerashchenko. In June 2013, Ignatiev gave up the post of Chairman of the Bank of Russia to Elvira Nabiullina. At the same time, Vladimir Putin spoke at the Russia Calling!
