Sergei Chigrakov is a legend of Russian rock, a musician whose songs are sung both in karaoke and in the yard with a guitar. The future rock star, after graduating from a music school in Dzerzhinsk, enters a music school there. The student life of a performer is always full of fun and temptations: many new friends, girls, alcohol, rock and roll and spontaneous home parties. As a result, Sergei Chigrakov was expelled from the music school for non-attendance. True, then the musician took up his mind, began to master the accordion, recovered and finished his education almost perfectly.

Further, Sergei Chigrakov went to Leningrad to impress the selection committee of the Leningrad State Institute of Culture. Krupskaya, popularly referred to as "Kulek". The talented applicant was admitted to the department of orchestral conducting and folk instruments.

Having received a diploma in higher musical education, the future legendary rock performer got a job in the Leningrad cultural enlightenment profession, but after working there for a short time, he left to pay his debt to his homeland. The musician served in the tank forces in the Latvian port town of Ventspils.

Returning from the army, Sergei Chigrakov continues to study at Kulka in absentia and at the same time enters the jazz studio of the Leningrad Conservatory in the drum class. Having received another musical education, Chizh returns to his native Dzerzhinsk. In his youth, Sergei began working as a music and singing teacher in a regular secondary school # 33. It was this experience that many years later formed the basis for the plot of the famous song by Sergei Chigrakov "Eternal Youth".

By that time, Sergei Chigrakov was already well known to all Dzerzhinsk musicians, which is not surprising for such a small town. Then a school teacher working part-time at weddings is invited to Kharkiv to play there in the local After-Day Group, abbreviated as GPA.

Soon the Kharkiv GPD broke up. Sergei Chigrakov stayed with Alexander Chernetsky, Pavel Mikhailenko and the rest of the musicians who formed a new group called “Different People”. When Chernetsky fell seriously ill, money for his treatment was collected by the whole world. Boris Grebenshchikov and Yuri Shevchuk organized several charity concerts and even wrote for the program "Look". While Chernetsky was undergoing treatment, Sergei Chigrakov was the frontman in “Different People” instead. Then Alexander went on the mend, was able to go on stage again, and he and Chizh began to sing their songs in turn.

A couple of years later, Chizh left “Different People” to pursue a solo career. Boris Grebenshchikov has long called the musician to Petersburg.

In 1993, with his help, Chigrakov recorded his first solo vinyl record, which he called "Chizh". The hits of the album were the tracks "She Didn't Marry", "Eternal Youth", "Mouse", "I Want Tea".

Famous colleagues in rock and roll activities gave Sergey several concerts in St. Petersburg clubs. The sophisticated audience accepted the new rock artist quite favorably, and Chizh decided to finally move from Kharkov to the Northern capital. A month later, he already had his own group, Chizh & Co, which the whole country soon learned about.

Less than a year later, Chizh & So have already released their first studio album, Perekrestok, and a concert recording, Live, without ceasing to perform on the stages of various clubs. A year later, Sergei Chigrakov and his company recorded a new album "About Love".

Chizh became a real rock star. It's time to release an album of the best songs. The musicians took the path of least resistance: they recorded their performance in the St. Petersburg House of Culture "Yubileiny", where the audience sang along with the frontman in almost every song. On the wave of success, Chizh & Co went to the USA.

The musician's creative biography is rich in foreign trips. In 1998, "Chizh & So" toured Israel and recorded the album "New Jerusalem" there, which included the songs "Tanks rumbled on the field" and "Phantom". Then the artist goes to London. Learning that Chizh is in London, Seva Novgorodtsev, the legendary voice of America since Soviet times, invites musicians to his broadcast on BBC radio. Then the recording of this program will be released as the collective's album "At 20:00 GMT".

A year later, Chizh and his company play at a rock festival in New York, give a concert in Chicago, and then return to Russia. Not a single large rock festival in Russia can do without Chizh & Co.

In 2002 Sergei Chigrakov and his team participated in the creation of 3 tribute albums: Dyushi Romanov, Yegor Letov and the Secret group. And in 2004, Chizh made his old dream come true, playing the blues of his own composition with real dark-skinned blues musicians. The musicians of the Herbert Maitlandt Band took part in the project, called the Chizh & Blues company.

In the same years, Sergei recorded several albums together with his friends in the "Different People" group. In a duet with Alexander Chernetsky, the singer released the album Comeback, and with Pavel Mikhailenko - the disc "About Elephants". In 2010, the album "Names" was released, in the creation of which Yevgeny Margulis, Sergey Chigrakov and Romario participated. Critics and listeners reacted positively to the experience of cooperation of the three musicians, and the song "Tanya is a fool!" reached the top of the "Our Radio" charts.

The jubilee of the Chizh & Co group was celebrated on a grand scale with concerts in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The collective was congratulated by the most famous Russian artists. Sergey Chigrakov is married for the third time. The first chosen one of the singer was classmate Marina at the Dzerzhinsk Music School. The young wife gave birth to Sergei's son Nikolai, and after 9 years, Daniel appeared in marriage.
