Sergei Barkovsky studied well at school and knew that he would continue his education at the institute. He decided to enter the Leningrad State University, the Faculty of Philosophy. The applicant had only one exam - Spanish, which had to be passed with 5 points. He passed, but asked the admissions committee to give him a four. The request shocked the teachers, because at five minutes before the student wanted to first serve in the army (just at the height of the military campaign in Afghanistan).

The teachers persuaded Sergei to stay at the university. A year later, after talking with the guys who had returned from the army, he realized that the teachers were right. I was lucky with the curriculum: the course was creative, there are many poets, musicians, who are not at all like gloomy thinkers and bores. After graduating from Leningrad State University, Barkovsky taught philosophy at a military naval school, was going to enter graduate school, but at some point he realized that his vocation was the theater stage.

In his student years, Sergei played with pleasure in an amateur theater, performed in performances and skits. And each time, stepping onto the stage, I felt an unprecedented rise inside, a touch to a different, mysterious reality.

The young man studied in the studio, which was directed by the artistic director of the Comedy Theater Vadim Golikov, and soon entered his course at the theater institute. After a year and a half, he went to Mar Sulimov. This teacher, Sergei believes, has truly revealed his potential. Barkovsky graduated from the institute with two degrees at once - an actor and a director.

In 1992, immediately after graduation, Sergei was enrolled in the Youth Theater on the Fontanka. In the difficult 90s for the country, Barkovsky did not give in to difficulties. In collaboration with a classmate, he wrote a play for children "The Magic Flight over Baghdad" and showed it in schools and his native theater.
