The Age
Studies to date have shown that positive thinking is good for physical health. And vice versa - that pessimists have higher blood pressure, suffer from more diseases, and have a shorter life. What is new in the findings of scientists from Purdue University in Indiana, USA is that not only the physical but also the mental health of young people in spirit is better.
The University's experiment began 10 years ago when researchers monitored the health and speed of mental reactions of 500 volunteers. Participants were then between the ages of 55 and 74. Today, a decade later, it turns out that men and women who do not pay attention to their biological age react with their minds as if they were younger and older.
The results of the American study also show that games, puzzles, and riddles, which are gymnastics for the mind, have a beneficial effect on the psyche and slow down mental aging.
In the future, scientists will focus on the question of cause and effect, ie. whether good health and happiness determine the good cognitive abilities of adults or vice versa.
The minds of those who perceive the world with the speed of thought reactions they had 12 years ago react and offer solutions as quickly as they did 12 years ago, writes the Daily Mail, citing an American study.
