Biography
Rustam Sagdullaev is an Uzbek actor and director. The loving and gentle Romeo from Leonid Bykov's film masterpiece about the war “Only“ old men ”go into battle. Almost all the spectators of the vast country were in love with him. The actor has forever become a close and dear person in every Soviet home. This is how this Uzbek artist was remembered and loved.
Rustam Abdullaevich Sagdullaev was born on July 25, 1950 in Tashkent in a harmonious family, where children grew up in an atmosphere of parental love and kindness. The head of the family worked as a party official, but at the same time he was not at all strict with his son and daughter. The responsibility to keep the children in check rather belonged to the mother, the keeper of the hearth.
Rustam showed artistry at an early age. Already in primary school, the boy enrolled in the drama club of the local Palace of Pioneers. Georgy Millyar became the standard of acting for him. The young artist did his best to imitate the idol. At school matinees and New Year's performances, the young artist portrayed Koshchei the Immortal and Babu Yaga, trying to achieve resemblance to Millyar.
Probably, Rustam Sagdullaev did it well. Because at the age of 13, the boy was chosen out of 300 applicants for the role in Ravil Batyrov's film "Rope Walkers". The stars of the Uzbek cinema were shot in this picture. Rustam tried his best to match the surrounding actors and closely watched the work of the stage masters.
After working on the set and the release of "The Rope Walkers" on the screens, Rustam Sagdullaev did not dream of anything else: the boy wanted to be only an artist.
In 1975, Sagdullaev graduated from the Tashkent Theater Institute and was employed at the Uzbekfilm film studio.

Movies
The cinematic biography of Rustam Sagdullaev, starting at the age of 13, continued through his school and student years. At the age of 16, the young man starred in the film "White, White Storks", and at 18 he played the main role in the popular melodrama "Lovers". In this picture by Elyor Ishmukhamedov, released in 1969, in addition to Sagdullaev, the rising stars of Soviet cinema Anastasia Vertinskaya and Rodion Nakhapetov played.
Nakhapetov recommended a young and talented Uzbek actor Leonid Bykov, who was looking for a suitable artist for the role of Romeo.
After the release of the film masterpiece "Only" old men "go to battle on screens in 1973, Rustam Sagdullaev woke up famous. The film entered the Guinness Book of Records for the number of viewership and frequency of broadcasts. But the image of Romeo, which became a visiting card for Sagdullaev, could have gone to someone else. The fact is that Rustam, together with Sergei Ivanov, who played Grasshopper, accidentally saw part of the footage. This happened when Leonid Bykov was looking at the tape in the hall, thinking that he was alone there.
Rustam Sagdullaev, seeing himself on the screen, was shocked. The actor believed that next to Evgenia Simonova he looked terrible. Later in an interview, the artist shared that Zhenya seemed to him the standard of tenderness and beauty, and Rustam himself, next to the actress, looked like a babay.
The actor began to beg Leonid Bykov to replace him with another actor. Then Bykov in all seriousness said that if Sagdullaev insisted and rushed home, then Simonov would have to be replaced by another actress. Only after that Rustam resigned himself and continued to act in the film.
Like many other actors who became real stars after the release of the film about the singing squadron, Rustam Sagdullaev's film career no longer had roles that brought the same popularity as the role of Romeo. But, nevertheless, the career of the Tashkent actor was developing successfully. He starred a lot until the 90s. The audience saw their beloved Romeo in the films "A Tale of Two Soldiers", "What Our Years!", "Hot Summer in Kabul" and "Shock".
A difficult period of lack of demand and lack of money came in the mid-1990s. Rustam Sagdullaev, accustomed to high standards of acting, could not agree to the low-standard hack that he was offered. A prolonged depression began.
Sagdullaev found a way out in the decision to create his own film studio, in which he will be both a director and a producer and a screenwriter. The plans came true at the very end of the 90s. In 2001 Sagdullaev's 10-episode film "The Blind" was released. This series was filmed at the Ravshan Film studio, created by Rustam Abdullaevich. The project, in which Sagdullaev acted as a director, producer, co-writer and actor (he played the main role), turned out to be more than successful.
In the new century, Rustam Sagdullaev films and films. In the domestic cinema, he occupies an honorable place. You can see your favorite artist in the Spetsnaz projects, where he played Colonel Akabirov, in the films Gemini, Afgan Lovers and Silent Outpost. In 2004, a sequel to the wonderful melodrama "Lovers" was released, where Sagdullaev again played in the company of Rodion Nakhapetov. But Anastasia Vertinskaya was replaced by her older sister Marianna Vertinskaya.
In 2014, Rustam Abdullaevich starred in the popular TV series "Grigory R." This is a biographical drama about the life of the Siberian peasant Grigory Rasputin, who became the second person in the Russian Empire. The series was filmed in the retrospective genre and is full of flashbacks. The framework plot takes place after the revolution and the fall of the Empire.
The main character is the state commission to investigate the murder of Rasputin, created by direct order of the Provisional Government. The main goal of the investigators is to find a connection between the mysterious death of the elder in December 1916 and the fall of the autocracy just two months after that. Investigators interrogate 159 witnesses, from whose stories and collect the biography of Grigory Rasputin, diligently discarding lies and mystical inventions.
It would seem that in such a plot there is no place for the obvious oriental flavor of the actor, but instead the authors of the series emphasized the Asian appearance of Rustam Sagdullaev even more. The artist played the role of the doctor of Tibetan medicine Peter Alexandrovich Badmaev.
fact
Personal life
Everyone's beloved Romeo started a family rather late, especially if you take into account oriental standards. The actor got married at the age of 30. The actor met his future wife Marina Kuzina when he was filming the film "Shock". At that time, 22-year-old Marina was already the head of the sewing department of Uzbekfilm. Rustam Sagdullaev came to pick up his suit. He thanked the workers of the shop, but unknowingly did not give them a traditional box of chocolates. And when Marina asked the actor "Is that all?", He was not taken aback and, looking at the beauty, replied that he could give her children.
Apparently, Marina agreed, because soon two adorable children appeared in the Sagdullaev family - the son of Ravshan and the daughter of Navruz. A wonderful, very affectionate father came out of the actor, who is ready to shoot stars from the sky for children. As once in his family, mother showed severity towards children.
The personal life of Rustam Sagdullaev was wonderful. Friends and colleagues of the artist say that after long years of marriage, the spouses have the same tender relationship as at the beginning of their acquaintance.

The series follows the rise of organized crime in the post-war years. The main character of the picture, Captain Ignat Belov (Kirill Safonov), tries to prevent the crime, but instead becomes the accused himself.
