"Russian Size" is a collective of the Russian pop-scene performing electronic dance music. The group is considered one of the pioneers of the club scene.

When exactly the biography of "Russian size" began, even its participants cannot answer. The founders of the group, friends from Kostanay, Viktor Bondaryuk and Dmitry Kopotilov, started back in the mid-80s - they mastered musical instruments, tried to write songs. The guys played in various teams - Captain Cooper, Oracle. When Pavel Kashin joined the musicians in 1988, who later became a well-known performer, they called themselves the "Pathological Department".

The group began performing under the name "Russian Size" in 1991, after Dmitry and Viktor moved to St. Petersburg. A year later, their songs "A star is melting over the city", "I call you Joy", "Batman" sounded on all dance floors. The author of the music and lyrics of the initial period of the group was Kopotilov.

The composition of the group also underwent changes: keyboardist Dmitry Khil and guitarist Alexander Tyurin joined, for a short time he left for Germany, but Bondaryuk returned. The "Russian size" also had a dance accompaniment, which, however, was soon abandoned, but only one girl remained - Angela Kuznetsova. So the sound of male voices was diluted with female vocals. Later, she was replaced by Svetlana Kunitsyna.

In a nightclub in Novosibirsk, the performers met Yulia Kosheleva. The girl put choreographic links between the numbers for the group and soon became the face of the "Russian size". According to rumors, Julia left, offended by the director Alexander Levin, who did not allow her to take her fiancé with her to concerts.

In 1995, the place of the soloist was taken by Professor Lebedinsky, the author of the hit “I will kill you, boatman”. Beginning DJ Dmitry Nagiyev and sound producer of Svetlana Vladimirskaya and the Kar-Men group Vadim Volodin took up the promotion of an unusual creative association.

The songs of the group were popular, occupied the top positions of the charts, but the success of Lebedinsky's album "Hello-Goodbye" prompted him to pay more attention to his solo career. In the 2000s, the band continued to perform for a while, but disagreements between the founders took their toll. As a result, Kopotilov and Bondaryuk unleashed a fight for copyright. Dmitry won the right to perform under the name "Russian Size" in tandem with the new musician Igor Lutsenko.

The young man ran the official website of the band, bought and sold instruments and composed music along the way. The compositions with which the group worked at concerts were reworked taking into account the situation, and where the parts of backing vocals are heard, everything was covered by Igor.

Viktor created a new group "Arina and Size Project", although, according to the musician, the court recognized him as the authorship of the name of the group "Russian Size".

The newly-minted collective gave its first concerts at the Palace of Culture and Technology named after the First Five-Year Plan, a monument of Soviet constructivism destroyed as part of the project to build the second stage of the Mariinsky Theater. With the appearance of a director at Russian Size, who took over organizational issues, the musicians organized the first major show, to which they attracted the pop stars of the 90s - Lada Dance, Tatyana Ovsienko, Natalia Vetlitskaya, the groups Na-Na and The little Prince".

In 1995, it was the turn of the first magnetic album called "Yu-A-Yu". The video for the title track "Batman" was shot by Boris Dedenev, the author of the videos "Wind" by the group "DDT", "Wings" by Vyacheslav Butusov.

With Professor Lebedinsky, "Russian Size" released a couple of albums with comic remakes of old Soviet and foreign hits, such as "Blue-Blue Frost", "Souvenir", "The Last Time".

In 2004, the group decided to be original and celebrate a non-circular date - the 13th anniversary of the foundation. In addition to old acquaintances of Nagiyev and Lebedinsky, the festive concert was attended by the already gaining popularity Eva Polna with "Guests from the Future", Sergei Chigrakov, Yulia Savicheva, Roma Zhukov.

Russian Size recorded songs with Mike Naumenko, Chizh & Co group, Zhanna Aguzarova and Tatyana Bulanova, DJ Alexei Tsvetkov (DJ TsvetkoFF) and Svetlana Koltunova, who performed under the pseudonym Sveta. Some of the fruits of joint creativity are included in the "Tsyzamen" album.

In 2010, the most voluminous and so far the last album of "Russian size" was released - "! Listen". To attract the attention of fans, the musicians held a remix competition for the track "Plates". The compositions of the two winners are included in the official release of the album.

The group "Russian Size" is a welcome guest at events of various scales with the prefix "retro", held both in Russia and abroad. The intense touring schedule of the team from the 90s is evidenced by reports on the social networks Instagram and VKontakte.
