Ruslan Nigmatullin played for the Tatarstan team for two years. After spending 20 matches, the goalkeeper conceded only 19 goals. In 1997, Nigmatullin moved to Lokomotiv, and here the goalkeeper's talent is revealed in full force.

The railroad coach Yuri Semin will soon include the new goalkeeper in the main squad, and in three years Nigmatullin has played 115 matches, conceding only 96 goals. Lokomotiv won the Russian Cup in 2000 and 2001. During the same period Ruslan was recognized as the goalkeeper of the year.
