Biography
Rashid Nurgaliev is a former head of the Russian Interior Ministry who held this post for eight years. According to the notorious deputy and journalist Alexander Khinshtein, it was difficult to find a person in the Russian government who "caused as much rejection as the Minister of Internal Affairs." As Moskovsky Komsomolets wrote, despite the popularized reform of the ministry, the result was exactly the opposite:
fact
Childhood and youth
Rashid Gumarovich is the owner of a typical Soviet-era biography of a person who was born into a family of employees of internal affairs bodies. Father Gumar graduated from a military school and the Higher School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the documents, he is simply Gumar Nurgaliev, without a middle name, which he abandoned after his own father, Rashid's grandfather, left the family and stopped communicating with the children. He met his wife Shadia at a dance while serving in the special commandant's office in the Kazakh town of Dzhetygary.
Rashid and older brother Radik were born there. Later, Gumar Nurgaliev was transferred to serve in a workers' settlement in Karelia, in an institution for the execution of punishments, the prisoners of which were building the Belomorkanal. His family moved with him. By nationality, the Nurgalievs are Tatars. By the way, the father of the former minister, and now the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, rose to the rank of colonel.
After graduating from high school, Nurgaliev entered the University of Petrozavodsk at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, in 1979 he returned to his native village of Nadvoitsy, where he grew up, and began to teach physics in an evening school. Rashid devoted two years to teaching, then became a student of the Higher Courses of the State Security Committee in Minsk. Over time, he graduated from the KGB Academy.

Career
The ascent of the future silovik on the career ladder began with the position of an operative officer of the regional branch of the KGB of the Karelian ASSR. By 1995, Rashid Nurgaliyev had risen to the post of head of the anti-terrorism department.
By this time, the future head of the FSB of Russia Nikolai Patrushev became Nurgaliev's immediate supervisor. When the latter was assigned to the Internal Security Directorate of the Lubyanka institution, Rashid Gumarovich was also assigned to his central office.
In 1998, following his boss, Nurgaliev moved to work in the Main Control Directorate of the President of Russia. A year later, he returned to the ranks of the state security and headed the Department for Combating Smuggling and Illicit Drug Trafficking. In 2000, he was promoted to the post of Deputy Director of the FSB of Russia.
Since 2002, Nurgaliev's life has been associated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. At first it was the post of first deputy minister and at the same time - the leadership of the Criminal Police Service. Two years later, Rashid Gumarovich became the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Rashid Nurgaliev is associated with many transformations that this power structure had to go through. The loudest of them is the renaming from police to police.
According to Kommersant, citing an anonymous source, Nurgaliev may be a professional in his field, but he could not manage such a department as the Ministry of Internal Affairs. "Under him, the ministry remained a swamp", did not acquire a strong team of its own, and could not defend anything.
According to Mikhail Pashkin, head of the Coordination Council of the Moscow and Moscow Region Police Trade Union, the former minister set up a conveyor belt to solve crimes, which led to an increase in the number of fake criminal cases. And this is not counting the scandalous investigations against the employees of the internal affairs bodies themselves, such as the case of Major Evsyukov or the Dalniy ROVD.
The Forbes edition noted that Rashid Nurgaliyev adequately fulfilled only the function that was expected of him in the Kremlin - ensuring the continuity of a particular group in power. In 2012, he again left after Nikolai Patrushev, this time for the post of his deputy in the Security Council.

Personal life
Rashid Gumarovich's service in difficult state institutions left an imprint on his personal life - it is not customary to talk about relatives and friends in such an environment. Even according to the recollections of fellow villagers and classmates, although Nurgaliev was sociable and cheerful, he was by no means a shirtless guy, he did not frank with anyone and seemed very strict.
However, the ubiquitous journalists still managed to find out some details. So, according to the tabloid "Versia", Nurgaliev's wife, Margarita, who previously bore the surname Ryabtsev, is the niece of the chairman of the Presidium of the Karelian Supreme Soviet. The couple raised two children.
The eldest son Maxim is a career military man, graduated from the Academy of Strategic Missile Forces. The younger Rashid is a graduate of the FSB Academy, but abandoned his career as an officer, received a financial education at the Higher School of Economics, according to other sources, he has a diploma from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Army General Nurgaliyev is a vegetarian, as he admitted in an interview, he is unpretentious in food, he manages to eat fruits, vegetables, nuts, and does not accept alcohol. According to "Komsomolskaya Pravda", at one time the short minister (Rashid Gumarovich's height is 167 cm) lost 30 kg, and all thanks to a healthy lifestyle and moral motivation.
Rashid Nurgaliev loves to sing songs with a guitar, is fond of oriental health-improving methods. In his youth he played hockey and in the ministerial chair he returned to his former hobby in the team of veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. But if he used to stand at the gate, then later he was retrained as a striker. In addition, being the Minister of Internal Affairs, Nurgaliev headed the Board of Trustees of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society "Dynamo".
