Rensom Riggs was born on November 26, 1979 in the US state of Maryland in a family of farmers. The Riggs lived in the provincial outback, in which there was no entertainment, so young Rensom began to write fantastic stories and fairy tales. As a schoolboy, the boy found another hobby for himself - cinema. The ambitious young man went to Los Angeles, where he studied at the film school, which was part of the University of Southern California.

Rensom has another passion - photography. And the impetus for the emergence of this hobby was the collection of old photographs he collected during his studies at the cinematography school - they depicted people looking creepy or abnormal. A few years later, the guy possessed a huge number of such photos, which inspired his literary editor to create an interesting idea: based on these photos, compose an epic novel.

Thus, a book in the genre of adventure fantasy with elements of mysticism and horror called "House of Strange Children" was published, which was illustrated with extraordinary photographs. The work immediately entered the bestseller lists and brought resounding success to the inexperienced author. The novel hit the shelves of bookstores in 2011 and received the status of one of the best literary works according to The New York Times.

Inspired by this unexpected success, Riggs composed the second part of this eerie and mysterious epic “City of Hollows. Escape from the house of strange children ”. The final part of the trilogy, called “Library of Souls. There is no way out of the house of strange children ”, was put up for sale in the second half of 2015.

Hollywood filmmaker Tim Burton could not resist the magic of the American writer and, inspired by the story he created, shot a full-length science fiction film. At the end of 2016, the movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, based on works from the Rensom trilogy, was released on screens around the world.
