Biography
If Philippe Collin is known for being a film critic officiating at Elle magazine and at the radio program Le Masque et la plume broadcast on France Inter, he is also known for being a director, both for television ( The TSF Years , The Form and the Place, the public art of Dani Karavan ) and the cinema. Thus in 1977, he directed, within the framework of the section "Compound past" of the Cannes Film Festival, Ciné-follies, a documentary mixing sung sequences taken from French musicals of the 1930s.
His first fictional feature film, he directed three years later; it is about a drama, The Punished Son, in particular interpreted by Christian Rist, an actor whom he will direct again in 1995 in The Last Days of Emmanuel Kant. This evocation of the end of life of the famous philosopher earned him the praises of his fellow journalists, but he had to wait eight years before adapting to the cinema a book which was close to his heart, Aux abois (2005) by Tristan Bernard, l tale of a former insurer turned criminal, a choice counter-employment for Elie Semoun.
