Having lived a difficult life, having experienced the death of her first child and the horrors of war, Lydia Sanaeva was distinguished by her strong character, prone to despotism and domestic violence. The book was printed in 2003, there was no special advertising campaign, but it became a bestseller. The plot was transferred to the theatrical stage, and in 2009 the film was adapted.

The work, translated into a number of European languages, does not reveal the role of Bykov. Wanting to correct the omission, Sanaev released in 2013 the first part of the novel The Chronicle of Gouging, perceived as a continuation of the story. The author himself puts this work in a separate row and does not exclude that he will make a film based on it.

In 2014, Pavel in 2 weeks came up with a script for the comedy "Complete Transformation" about a realtor who falls into the hands of a device that helps to change his personality. This is a continuation of the story of a man torn apart by contradictions who is trying to find his place in life, to catch luck and emerge victorious from life's troubles.

In 2009, Sanaev married model and interior designer Alena Fonina. The wife is 20 years younger. In 2012, a daughter, Veronica, was born, according to her father, a cinematic child.
