Biography
Olympic champion Paul George, who played for the Indiana Pacers national basketball team for seven seasons, joined the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2017 and is now one of the leading players in the Western Northwest Division of the Western Conference. Throughout his career, the talented athlete has participated in the NBA All-Star Game six times and has been a symbolic team of professional league players four times.
fact
Childhood and adolescence
Paul Cliftonanto George was born on May 2, 1990 in the Californian city of Palmdale, in a family where parents and children were seriously interested in sports. The older sister of the future Olympic champion played basketball for the Pepperdine University team, and the middle team had high hopes for the San Bernardino Coyotes volleyball team.
Unsurprisingly, George did not stay away from the established family traditions and, as a child, spent most of his free time in the park, playing with the ball. As a child, the aspiring basketball player rooted for the Los Angeles Lakers and idolized club star Kobe Bryant.
George joined the organized team during his years at Knight High School. In the 2nd year Paul made his debut in the university league, being the youngest player on the court, and since 2007, a talented teenager, competing in amateur tournaments AAU, began to be interested in recruiters of the leading clubs of the athletic union.
In the middle of the season the coach felt the potential of the young player and gave him the role of the main striker. Thanks to this decision, the school won the Golden League Championship, and Paul was recognized as the most valuable member of the youth basketball team.
At the end of the year, George was ranked 20th in the California Ranking of Promising Athletes and signed an oral contract with Santa Clara agents. However, later on the coach's recommendation, the young man refused the agreement and chose to play in the Western Conference for UCLA.

Basketball
By the time the university season began, George had reached a height of 206 cm and gained a weight of 100 kg. In the first games, the young winger showed outstanding ability and helped the Bulldogs reach the quarterfinals of the 2009 WAC tournament. Despite the efforts of Paul and other players, Fresno was not among the 65 clubs selected for the NCAA basketball competition, but the athlete himself led the Western Conference in the efficiency rating for a minute and finished second on 3-point throws and interceptions.
In season 2, The American weekly Sports Illustrated named George the most interesting player of the regional championship, and the Bulldogs forward confirmed this status, ending the year with high scores in free throws, rebounds and assists.
On March 31, 2010, Paul announced that he was retiring from the University of Fresno team to participate in the National Basketball Association draft. According to Draft Express and ESPN.com, the young contender was to become the 12th selected player to join the Southwest Division club Memphis Grizzlies.
Contrary to this opinion and thanks to the support of employees of the website Yahoo! Sports George rose 2 places higher and went to the Eastern Conference team "Indiana Pacers". On July 1, 2010, the potential forward signed a $3.9 million contract and received a two-year nba game in the NBA.
On October 27, 2010, Paul made his Central Division debut against the San Antonio Spurs and spent 23 minutes on the court, earning 4 points. Having shown skill in defense in the 2011 playoffs, the young basketball player became one of two rookies who appeared in the starting lineup and at the end of the season entered the national team of NBA debutants.
In 2012, George played 66 games for the Pacers and participated in the association's stellar weekend, showing off the top throws in the Slam Dunk competition and stealing skills in the Rising Stars Challenge. At the start of season 3, Paul, who played in defense, had to move to the fore, replacing the injured Danny Granger. After defeating Cleveland, Philadelphia and Detroit, the new forward was named the best player of the week for the first time and in 2013 selected for the NBA All-Star Game.
George, who made 140 interceptions and averaged 17.4 points, was named the NBA's most productive basketball player for the first time in his professional career, and at the end of the playoffs he topped the Pacers' list of top members.
In the fall of 2013, Paul became the club's "designated player" and earned $90 million for a five-year contract. Having brilliantly spent the 2013/2014 season, the athlete got a symbolic team of all-stars of the National Basketball Association and was named in the top five best defenders of the championship and playoff series.
In 2014, during a game break, George was included in the U.S. national team at the World Basketball Championship in Spain. During the preparatory stage, the athlete awkwardly landed on his right leg and suffered a complex fracture of 2 bones of the base. After the surgery, analysts assumed that Paul would miss the season, but the desire to play helped to recover faster, and on April 5, 2015, the basketball player returned to the field and played the last 6 games for Indiana.
The following season, the athlete started with a fine of $10,000. for criticizing the referees who refereed the Pacers' game against the Toronto Raptors. However, this did not prevent the basketball player to lead the ranking of players of the Eastern Conference and distinguish himself in the NBA All-Star Game.
In 2016, George as part of the national team went to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and returned from there with the gold medal of the tournament. He then spent his final season with the Indiana Pacers and in July 2017 was a successful acquisition for the Northwest Division club Oklahoma City Thunder. A year later, after receiving the status of a free agent, Paul decided to stay with the Thunder and on July 6, 2018 formalized it, signing a four-year contract worth $137 million.
