Patricia Clarkson

Graduated from Yale University, graduated in dramatic arts, Patricia Clarkson landed, for her first film role, a place of choice in Les Incorruptibles (1987) by Brian De Palma. She embodies Catherine Ness, the wife of agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner). Her career as an actress launched, she replies to renowned actors such as Clint Eastwood in The Last Target (1988), Burt Lancaster in The Rock of Gibraltar, Peter Falk in Aunt Julia and the scribbler. But it is on television that she learns the most by doing TV films.

Often initially confined to the roles of loving wife (The Green Line) or grieving mother (The Pledge), she gradually becomes the muse of independent cinema, illustrated among others in Bienvenue à Collinwood (2002), Far From Heaven (2003), Dogville (2003) and The Station Agent (2004), a film for which she won numerous awards and which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy. The same year, her portrayal of a depressed mother in Pieces of April earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. But it is thanks to television that the general public is best known to the general public for her recurring character as Aunt Sarah in the hit television series Six Feet Under, which earned her two Emmy Awards.
