Olga Gennadievna Vilukhina is well known to biathlon fans. The Russian athlete made her name famous at the 2012 World Championships and at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she managed to win silver in the women's relay and sprint. The name of Olga Vilukhina is becoming widely known. The girl is invited to the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk in March 2009. And she met all expectations, showing the best time among Russian athletes in the sprint. Vilukhina got into a “flower ceremony”. At the end of the 2008-2009 season, she was included in the national team. For the first time, the girl was preparing for the new season together with the main team.

It seems that sports luck turned away from the biathlete. In Austria, Olga Vilukhina in a hurry forgot the start numbers on her feet. While they were brought to the girl, precious 40 seconds passed. It was these seconds that she lost to the leader. At the IBU Cup in Altenberg, Germany, the biathlete was only 17th. Olya had to give up further competitions due to severe otitis media.

The next season Olga's health failed again. But in January 2012, in the Czech Nove Mesto na Morave, Vilukhina managed to snatch the victory. She set a personal best: 5th in the sprint. And in March, a biathlete for the first time in her career was able to climb to 3rd place in the pursuit at the World Championships in Ruhpolding, Bavaria.

Luck smiled at the athlete again. The very first stage of the 2012-2013 season in Ostersund, Sweden, was the most successful for Olga in her career at that time: she took third place in the sprint and did not fall below 5th in the other two personal races.

At the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk in March 2013, the biathlete consolidated her success, again demonstrating her best result during her performances. Olga Vilukhina moved up to 2nd place.

Before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, the athlete was viewed as Russia's Olympic hope. And she did not disappoint. On February 9, the girl won a silver medal in the sprint, leaving only her Slovak rival ahead. Olya snatched the second silver in the relay.
