He graduated from the Chernihiv sports school, but the chances of being invited to the local team were minimal.

For some time Oleg played for the national team of the plant. And only then he was lucky to join the ranks of the professional team, which bore the proud name "Desna". At that time he was only 17 years old. It was the ultimate dream for Oleg. At that time, all the players on the team seemed to him to be gods, albeit on a local scale.

With such victories, Oleg Vladimirovich Kuznetsov's sports career began. The athlete spent two seasons in the team. After that, he wanted to get into the youth team of Ukraine. In 1982, "Desna" took second place in the Ukrainian zone of the Second League. Thanks to a successful season and Oleg's active participation during the games, Valery Lobanovsky noticed him.
