Russian fighter Ali Bagov (Oleg Bagov) more than once became the world champion in various martial arts and mixed martial arts. His parents gave him the name Oleg at birth, but when he came to train in Dagestan, the coaches asked if he would mind if they called him Ali, in their opinion, this name was more suitable for the young fighter. He agreed, but did not change it in his passport.

Another loud loss awaited Bagov in 2010, when he met in the octagon with Khabib Nurmagomedov and after two rounds was declared a loser by unanimous decision of the judges. The next battles with Ali were held with varying success, then he had both victories and losses. Two defeats in a row in his biography appeared in 2012 in battles with Magomedrasul Khasbulaev and Jose Lucas Fabiano de Melo.

In 2014, after losing by knockout to Abdul-Aziz Abdulvahabov, Bagov's results went up dramatically. A streak of eight victories gave him a reputation as a strong opponent. Each of these fights (except for the first) ended in the 1st round, among them there was 1 knockout, and the rest stopped after the opponents surrendered, to whom Ali applied painful or chokehold techniques.

Perhaps he would have continued to win, but a new fight in 2016 with Abdul-Aziz Abdulvahabov interrupted the series of victories by technical knockout, after which Bagov himself refused to continue the fight. But this did not temper the ardor of the Russian, and in 2017 he rehabilitated himself in the eyes of his fans, entering the ring with the American Bubba Jenkins, whom he defeated by a choke hold. Then, with the same success, he overcame the Brazilian Herdeson Batista. And in the fall of 2019, he fought back in the battle with Abdulvahabov, whom he finally won by a separate referee decision.

Now Bagov is a member of the Berkut organization, a fighting club that unites athletes of mixed martial arts.

In March 2019, Bagov was to have a title fight with a strong rival Khusein Khaliev, who had previously played about 20 times in the professional ring and had only one defeat during that time. Many were waiting for this fight, but it never took place. Feeling guilty in front of his fans, Ali posted a post in which he apologized to everyone and explained that he was unable to cut the weight to the desired limit.
