You sign up for some group activity- sports dancing, yoga or something. Or sign up to study something at university if you study - start a part-time job somewhere where you'll have a lot of colleagues, for example in a restaurant. And for being shy - when you get into an environment with a lot of people, it's going to pass, but it can take a few times.
