Nikolai Arutyunov is a well-known musician in the post-Soviet space. He is the creator of the legendary "League of Blues", which in the 90s, together with "Crematoria" and "Aria", scored TV air. The composition, according to Nikolai, was chosen by the "noble": Sergei Voronov and Alexei Astashev, Maria Katz and Boris Bulkin. In the 90s, blues gave way to hard rock and a project called "Arutyunov's Thursday", which performed covers of English-language compositions. This was followed by the collaboration "Nikolay Arutyunov & Funky Soul", collaboration with the Minsk bands The Blues Barbarians and "Krama", where the soloist, in addition to Russian and English, sang in Belarusian, performances as a vocalist with the British group The Booze band.

However, colleague Dmitry Chetvergov strove to modernize the sound, while Nikolai preferred traditionalism. The musicians parted as friends, and Arutyunov turned to no less beloved funk.

Funky Soul's repertoire continued to include English and American compositions. The singer did not want to translate the texts again because of the style of the group and because in the sound in the original language, the voice is an additional solo instrument. In 2014, it was the turn of the progressive genre. Nikolay had dreamed of working with an art-rock team for a long time, but he realized that it was impossible to create his own from scratch, so he joined the Quorum group, whose playing style reminded Genesis and Camel.

Progressive rock, according to Arutyunov, is more complicated than what was performed earlier. Blues, soul and hard rock are root genres, and the Quorum style involves tracking harmony, size and shape. Nikolai needed some internal restructuring, vocal and ideologically-mental.

In the new team, the singer did not change his own preferences, he also performs the classics of the 70s-80s: Emerson and Van Der Graaf Generator, Darryl Way`s Wolf and Pink Floyd, Curved Air and Atomic Rooster, King Crimson, Argent. In addition, the "Quorum" has accumulated its own material, which the group played even before the arrival of Arutyunov. The soloist expects to create joint compositions with the team in the future.

Little is known about the family of Nikolai Arutyunov. Together with his wife, the singer raised his son Sergei, from whom, according to his father, he turned out to be an excellent manager.

The young man advised his parents to invest in the purchase of an old 46-room castle in the Czech Republic, where the family later planned to live, and at first came to rest. After 3 years, I had to part with real estate due to a large number of concerts by Arutyunov and employment on the radio.
