As a 14-year-old teenager, Vavilova once caught the eye of the director's assistant Yulia Solntseva, who invited the girl to audition for the film Such High Mountains. Parents took the shooting of their daughter without enthusiasm, but did not interfere.

After a while, the girl got into a new large project. The assistant director Vladimir Menshov came to the school where Natasha studied. He was looking for Vavilova to offer her a role in the "Rally", where Dmitry Kharatyan had already been approved. The Vavilovs were shocked when they saw Batalov. They agreed to entrust their child to their idol - the famous artist and immediately gave the go-ahead for the shooting. As a result, Menshov received an Oscar, and Natalya was allowed to continue her acting career. She successfully entered VGIK on the course of Evgeny Matveev.

In 1986, Vavilova got the main role in the film "Nikolai Podvoisky". According to the plot of the film, the actress had to ride a horse. The girl regularly attended classes at the hippodrome for 2 months to prepare for filming. But this did not save her from an accident that happened at the rehearsal. Natalya mistakenly led out the horse, which was not assigned to her, besides, the animal had a backache. The horse threw Vavilova to the ground as soon as she got into the saddle. The artist received a spinal injury.
